FedEx TA reached

I kinda got the impression that both sides realized that negotiating on work rules was a waste of time until the NPRM comes to fruition.
So we get 3% ish, some improvements in FDA LOA language, etc.
and they get do the FDA thing again
Ready, break ... see ya in 12 months
what am i missing?

I haven't read the TA, but it seems a reasonable approach to take. As some of us were thinking, the company wanted a new FDA LOA, we wanted a contract. It's obvious that the new flight/duty times will drive any scheduling/hours of service sections.
Not sure what the specifics will be, but I do like the approach the union took. Hopefully it will be something we can approve..

Obviously we have leverage over the company in that they need to open an FDA in Europe and add MD11s in HKG and realize that it will not fill with the status quo. They also need ULR for the 777.
I have an idea. We should give all of this leverage away for a 3% raise that we would eventually get anyway.
Brilliant! Where do I sign.

How about everyone reading it this time, instead of the Union Dog and Pony show making your decision for your. FDA - What are we really giving up, in careers, seniority and in possible new hires? How many crew members in Hong Kong or Cologne will cut the amount of bodies needed to fill seats. Are the short term benefits more important than the long term? Less Bodies, means less overhead to the company in the long run. Could be good in keeping us lean and mean. Just some thoughts, But please everyone read it this time.

Oh and even if you like it you don't get to sign the contract, our representatives and the companies reps sign it, we just get to vote for it.

I couldn't agree more!!!! I'm writing my block rep to emphasize this! Whatever $$$ gains are in the T/A, it isn't worth the paper its printed on if that ticking time bomb isn't removed or at least fixed. Other than that, my hat's off to JG and the Negotiating Commitee, and hope the MEC is objective in their dicussion and report to the Membership.

Folks in the know (management) have been saying the last few months and especially recently:
Asia is super important.
We are going to have to hire 1500-2000 pilots in the next 3-4 years. We'll see how that one plays out.
Apparently, it could be true.

The number a union rep told me at 860 pilots that are over 65 and those over 60 with 25 years. So, round up to 900 and we'll call it even.
