Poolies unite

Best of luck to all the poolies. It's frustrating to wait and wonder, but the hiring letter makes it all worth while.
I'd not expect a lot of notifications from FedEx for a while. Internal applicants in the pool, by design, will get pulled first. Then, you can anticipate that they could be looking at the newest applications to interview and add to the pool to improve the quality.
I'm not sure if the pilots given training dates from the pool are first in/first out or ordered by perceived quality.

As for contact from FedEx, there will be fast and furious communication soon. All of those internals and poolies previously hired will run out by late March/early April.... Flight Management has been given the go ahead to hire 300+ after those folks. I would expect 20-30 per month for the next year or more...
Best of Luck to all applicants and Congrats Poolies.... It's worth the effort and wait.

The flow of training, if at the rate being bantered about, will cause things to happen in the near future. But as the new applicants get interviewed and added to the "hired" pool, there may be a re-ordering of who gets what class date. In other words, if a poolie doesn't get a notification of training early in the process, he may be delayed somewhat by a higher quality poolie who is applying during this open window.

I think that they are asking about the poolies that have been in the "hired" pool for years. They are testing out the new sim profile and looking for gouge.

The key for the A-300 is to THINK power, not SET power. They'll give you a chance to "get comfortable" before the scoring begins. That is when you should note the N1s. When climbing or descending, don't use more than a knob width to adjust. To do so will lead to an airspeed chase just when you are not in the mood for one. The Airbus engines are very responsive, especially when above idle power in flight.
If you are tasked to lower gear or flaps (unlikely...), think DRAG and crack the throttles in the right direction as you deploy or retract.
You're not on an ATP ride, but they WILL want to see airmanship skills.
You should be happy that FedEx isn't using the infamous DC-10 interview sim any more. It was notorious for not responding to subtle (read: smooth) inputs, but rather to save them up and serve them to you all at once. Kinda like an E-ticket ride in Space Mountain. The Airbus sims will respond much the same as the "real" plane.

No gouge out yet on the "new" sim profile though. FedEx has seemed to use a philosophy of "prove to me you are a pilot that could handle something like this, we'll teach you to fly it later." If you passed in the old DC-10 sim, then the Airbus will be a cake walk for you.
Good luck, stay calm when you're in the seat. Just remember that if you get asked into the interview process here that the job is yours to lose, you've already met the minimum qualifications. The testing, interviews and sim are all meant to make sure that the person that you seem to be on paper will make an excellent FedEx Captain at some point in the future.
