FedEx hiring practices in the past have heavily favorited the military guys. Please tell me that EVERYONE of the ex-mil hires on your seniority all lived 5 years consecutively in the U.S. just before getting picked up at FedEX. None of those guys were based over-seas somewhere with the AirForce?

So, this is more of a rule they made up to discriminate against civilian pilots.

Hey HanoiHILTON, go back and re-read the requirements and you'll see this:

"other than the following verifiable exceptions: active duty in the U.S. Uniformed Service"

Being unable to read and understand the basic job requirements will keep you from an interview no matter what your background or who endorses you.

I have never been in the military, but I would guess if one is on active duty in the military, deployed outside the US of A, it is just a weeeee bit different then getting a civilian job in a foreign country. For one, there is pretty good proof you did what you said you did when outside the US of A.

In regards to the requirement that one lives in the US for the last 5 years: I personally didn't jump on a opportunity to get a job outside the US for this very reason. I wanted to be in compliance for with FedEx's requirements when the time came. I think the 5 year requirement is silly (but there must be a good reason, right!? ) but it is what it is and not much applicants can do about it! Calling and complaining to the hiring department is most likely NOT going to change this requirement, but you can try. Let me know how it goes!

A full-blooded American has to travel 10,000 miles to find good employment and pay US taxes on top of that...only to be discriminated against when trying to find employment back home. While unqualified women and minorities continue to get preferential treatments.

No wonder this country is going down the toilet.

And all this time I thought women and minorities could be full blooded Americans. My bad. Apparently I'm the reason this country is going down the toilet. Who knew?

I think your beef is with the US Postal service, not FEDEX. Unless I'm missing something (always possible) I think it's their regulation.

Good luck with the lawsuit. With your attitude I'm sure FEDEX would be happy to contribute to your legal expenses, they must be dying to hire you.

The push for EEO is back on like it or not, however the competition is so fierce for each pilot seat that the quality of each airman, EEO or not doesn't need to be compromised. I don't think that Fedex hires any more military pilots than any of the legacy carriers did years ago. Twenty years ago there was a lot of military hiring, guys that had 'put in their 20' and went to work for an air carrier. Once they learned the 121 operation, these pilots were some of the finest I have ever had the pleasure of signing off, and that goes for most of the women. I do have two civilian buddies at Fedex, one MD-11 Captain, one 777 Captain, so there is a mix, have some faith in the system.
