3. Jepp made an offer to the company and we're going back to Jepp EFB and paper products provided in the plane like the LIDO bags.

What happened to this?

After all this time we still have issues with Lido....its about time management got their head on straight and cut a deal to go back to Jepp with kits on the aircraft...we all know Jepp does this as well...AND...there are many carriers using Jepp's EFB. This Lido stuff has not gotten much better after all this time!!!

WAKE UP!!

Nothing like a 20 month old thread brought back to life! I kinda like the LIDOs and I, personally, haven't seen anymore issues with LIDO than we did with JEPPESON, especially after Boeing took over.

Oh yea, you wouldn't have an axe to grind of some sort would you? 14 posts since joining APC almost 2 yrs ago and each about wanting to bring back JEPPS. With all the other stuff going on in that time period, this is your most pressing issue?

I don't think there is a problem with LIDO and the EFB. My understanding was that there is a problem with a subcontractor on the hardware which isn't coming from LIDO or Lufthansa.

Here at Big Brown our flight plans use Lido to offer the most fuel efficient route but we still carry our pubs. They also stopped installing the EFBs at least until the FAA and the airlines agree on the ADSB's future, at least that's what I heard.

Can you purple guys explain how Lido replaced your pubs? Are the approach plates now printed on the "release" or are they onboard the aircraft, or something else? All airplanes?

I did notice that Big Brown pilots seemed to have much longer arms than the puny Fedex aviators and thought we were simply biologically superior…

Now I know the real reason to your handicap, or rather our disability...

yeah well, humans now have much shorter arms than those of Neanderthal man. Those Neaderthals were probably carrying huge flight bags I think.

Easy, instead of using JEPPS charts and plates, we now use LIDO charts and plates. When we fully swapped to LIDO a couple of years ago, the need to carry our brain bags went away, because FedEx keeps the charts on the plane now - we all now carry Swiss Gear backpacks.

Most of the MD10/MD11s now have the EFBs installed using the LIDO digital versions, and on those aircraft, it is not a requirement to use the paper versions, but we have sets on board as a back up, or if you are still a stick in the mud and are afraid of electrons (but then, what are they doing on the MAd Dog? ) and/or change.

JEPPS are organized towards the FARs and the LIDOs are organized towards ICAO - so, theoretically, finding the info on a particular airport/country/region should be the same, whether domestic or international.

Some folks, and, I assume, they are the VERY SMALL MINORITY, feel lost without JEPPS. They probably still use sun dials to tell time, have rotary phones at home, B&W TVs with rabbitt ears, ..... They are the people that pull out their checkbook at the Express check out line!
