Reason why? I'm 99% sure it's that lack of internal sponsor... On the one hand I understand the desire for an internal rec, and on the other hand I find it to be a horrible reality.
As stated previously, the influence of a sponsor at FedEx is much less important than it used to be. I attended the briefing on our new hiring process and from what I heard I would guess that you would be considered "overqualified." They mentioned a "sweetspot" of TT (Sorry I don't remember the numbers if they were given) along with the comment that "high PIC hours are a predictor of poor performance."

Flight hours (apparently there is a statistical “sweet spot” of 1,200 to 6,000 for total time and 500 to 5,000 for PIC; jet time is preferred but lack of will not exclude candidates that score high in other factors)
If I woulda known that I'd have taken leaves of absence and froze my flying EVERY time FedEx shut off hiring since I put my application in in 2004.

Last I checked I am still black and yes I am from Rhodesia.... now Zimbabwe!!! Never used the color of my appearance to get hired anywhere. if my qualification does not get me in then i don't deserve the job..

500 hrs PIC in the MD-11 to go live in China to fly an A320. You can pay for your own transition or they will reimburse you and then you make significantly less.

Not completely, but mostly useless as there are only two operators in the world that use it and require the type.
