Hey Mods...Shouldn't this thread be moved to "aviation law"? There are many folks over there than can help this fellow out with his quest.
Or at the very least, introduce him to that RLA thing, that we work under.

The contract was approved by 94.6 percent to 5.4 percent with 93.7 percent of eligible pilots voting. The contract takes effect on October 30 and successfully concludes a negotiation process begun in 2004.
- FedEx Express Press Release October 17, 2006
So, nearly 95% of the pilots voted for the contract which included section 29, but now you don't think anyone wants it? How quickly some forget how disgusted the membership was (still is) with the non-member, free loaders. That section was a must have for many if not most of the pilots. Six years later and we get your post.
From the responses you've received, it appears you are still in the 5%. It's always about the money and nothing else with the non-members and those that wish to stop paying dues. I'd suggest that you go back and read the FDX pilot history on our ALPA website, assuming you have access.

[QUOTE=Tennstatelaw;1185181 Everyone I fly with hates the union but are too scared to do anything because of the hardcore "Coolaid Drinkers" like the ones responding to this thread. [/QUOTE]
Not even close to my experience. Complaining about different personalities and union positions doesn't equate to "hate the union". During the recent downturn of the economy, can you even imagine what would've happened to our wages, retirement and benefits without the protections of the CBA? Look no further than what happened to the non-union employees.

Here is my definition of a Troll. ALPA has spent all the resources it has trying to save the jobs of a bunch of scammers in Hong Kong, but if I show up to work on time, fly a good airplane, do well in the sim, don't cheat on my expense report, and do an over-all good job, but decide not to pay ALPA, they will exhaust those same resources trying to get me fired in accordance with Section 29.
A bunch of scammers! Really!? And what facts do you base that on? I am offended by that comment, and ashamed that one of our "brothers" actually believes that.
Offended because I have a few good friends that have been terminated who have a clean record here at FedEx for at least 18 years, and a comment like yours is beyond reproach. Ashamed because I guess you are one of ours. I am really flabbergasted! After being here for 15 years, I suppose that I shouldnt be surprised though. But, I am.

What's more likely: everyone you fly with recognizes before the first engine is even cranking that you're a delusional blowhard, so they resolve themselves to simply smiling and nodding at every crazy thing you say for the entire trip to avoid the hassle. Been there, done that.

Being a good Fox News watcher, I am uncomfortable with Alpa's association with the AFL-CIO, but I would be certainly more uncomfortable with anything someone as un-savvy as you might design.
