2 Billion? Lets just put the FDX name out there in your quote.

Because UPS share is only 200 million vs. FDX 1.8 Billion. PER YEAR!

I feel with all the payments and aircraft orders FDX has, Fred is going to under Bid and lose money on the contract to keep it. It still is logical to do with the orders of new airplanes arriving. Better to keep them flying and lose some money then have them sit and lose big money.

FDX will keep 80% plus-

UPS is out of their league when playing in the sandbox called Washington K street and Fred Smith.

What payments are you referring to?

Orders can be delayed or cancelled!

The monthy payments going to the leasing company or Bank that holds the Title for the over 100 aircraft firm ordered and scheduled to be delivered.

757, 767, 777's. do live under a rock?

Cancelled? Sure some could, but not all 125 plus.

Wasn't it Sun Tzu that said "never underestimate your enemy..."???

While I doubt FedEx underestimates UPS's influence and power, as Commando alludes to, I do hope that FedEx and UPS never truly engage in outright war. I believe the results could be devastating to both pilot groups.

I'd love to see UPS get some of this mail contract, but I would not want it at the expense of the overall health of both of our pilot groups.

With logic like this you are qualified to teach economics at any major university. 10 years ago the concept was to use the airplanes that were just sitting around during the day to increase profits and now the concept is to use the aircraft during the day at a loss to reduce costs?

The company that can most efficiently service the contract should get it, but I doubt anyone, particularly Fedex wants it at a loss.

Looks like you're right. I'm one UPSer who thinks FedEx will keep all or most of it.

"In 2012, American Airlines led all other passenger airlines in terms of money spent on lobbying -- a total of $4.8 million. In fact, the only three organizations in the entire air transport industry spent more money than American -- FedEx, which trumped everyone by spending $11.8 million, UPS, and the airline trade association Airlines for America, which spent $6.3 million."

I wouldn't worry about the new planes coming to FDX.

The company would just speed up the retirement of the MD-10's, which they want to do ASAP. Busses next, MD-11's last. We'll be an all twin-engine Boeing fleet by 2020.
