Posting 13-03 is out.. Let the Excesses begin
#91
My guess.....none, zero, zilch, or nada. However, some of the 727 Capts approaching 65 might let themselves be excessed (that makes them train in inverse seniority order, as opposed to bidding to excess which trains in seniority order). They then get Ave BLG until they finish training in their new jet. Of course, as the training date approaches, that darn prostate starts to kick up a fuss. I know, very remote....but it could happen

I understand your feelings about Age 60/65, and hopefully your last thought was Tongue-in-cheek, but the monster known as PCa is nothing to joke about....
Regards,
BG

Yeah it was TIC, and no, I know nothing of your situation and sensitivities, and yes, if I upset you, I'm sorry......I guess I could've said "a butterfly spooked your horse"....nah that's been used too. BTW, my post wasn't about 60/65, it was about how some of the 727 Capts approaching mandatory retirement might bid...and even that was TIC.

Am I missing something or couldn't every non-widebody Captain with a seniority greater than 3558 (about a Mar05 hire I think) could bit HKG Captain, not get awarded it and receive FEPP for most likely a LONG time. By the two published lists of FEPP there were over 100 pilots (and there were only 2 published lists but there actually more people than that) getting it. From a quick scan of the most senior guys, I don't show any having been forced to HKG. TonyC or HKGFlyer can probably answer that better. So let's say that's about 1000 guys eligible that could all big and get it. Unless you're in that top 50 or so guys I can't see how you would have any chance of actually having to go. Just sit in your seat and take the pay.
On the other had it's very possible that the company, after seeing how much pop this re-alignment would cost them, may decide not to execute the excess bid. I believe FEPP says 8 pilots a month - so a year from now 100 guys would be getting it. 100 more guys, at an average cost around $50,000/pilot that's a cost of $5,000,000 for every 100 guys. So say 1000 do it, that's $50million per year it costs the company.
Hey it's just business - it's just the contract - we all went Fedex to succeed but they have to live within the confines of the contract just like we do.
What am I missing? TonyC?

According to the numbers from posting 13-02, 417 FO's (and 91 narrow body Captains) could hold HKG Captain. An additional 376 FO's could hold CGN Captain. ALL of these 884 pilots cannot bid to relieve excess (FDA) and get the FEPP passover pay because they could hold a captain slot elsewhere. Everyone else senior to # 3682 can get passover pay for CGN. Everyone else senior to # 3558 can get passover pay for HKG. The other 884 pilots in between....well, too bad this time. Doesn't it seem to turn the seniority upside down? I mean, we are talking about 100K/ year for a senior 757 FO to hold FEPP for HKG Captain!
So you say, bid Captain domestically and quit whining. But, I could be 50% in CGN, why should I have to be bottom feeder in MEM?
Of course, there are some pilots in my numbers who are already getting FEPP or have already upgraded, but that still leaves A LOT of cash on the table.

I believe they can if they are are Junior (Captains) in Seat and get bumped and flushed by a slew of Excessed pilots bidding in on top of them, as they become excessed and can Bid anywhere they can hold a seat.
