So this IPad has a data plan right? I was never issued an airport express or any other kind of wireless router, so how am I supposed to set this thing up or even update it on the road internationally...

Get one. Works great. Lasts long time.
You can run as many devices as you want. Great for family road trips too. I've had as many as 8 devices running at a time.
I know $41 is too much for a International Wide-body Capt, but somehow I think most can budget it in, just 2 fewer beers.

OK I messed up the previous post. although that one will work. This is the one I have. Don't know which is better. Not that much of a computer geek.
