Hiring doesn't make upward mobility. Retiring, firing and dying does.
Growth & regulation can affect upward mobility too. Unfortunately, it seems neither are in the cards for us (pax belly freight on all the new wide bodies & the 117 cargo cut-out). Hopefully we can eke out some growth in EMEA or new Asia markets.

Back to retiring firing & dying

Particularly a bunch of crap if those demanding currency only fly for photo-ops and panda deliveries.

Hey those ATL pm out-and-backs are grueling. They are doing us a favor by flying them for us!

I think your name says it all if you really think that an individual personal or political view should hinder them from getting hired at purple. Or you'd discriminate against them based on the views wow, that says a lot about you. I hope all the purple guys don't feel that way.

Welcome to reality. If you [I]don't[I] think that personal or political views play into getting hired anywhere you're fooling yourself.
Whether it should hinder them or not is mostly academic.
And, of course, people discriminate for or against others all the time based on their views.
p.s. Unicorns don't really exist.

I thought this might help you Clipper:

jest
noun \ˈjest\

: something said or done to cause laughter

: an utterance (as a jeer or quip) intended to be taken as mockery or humor

I have found that folks with political views similar to the ones you're displaying are a little challenged in the sense of humor department.

I hate to speak for our CompetentFool but I'll go out on a limb and suggest that the following was meant in JEST(see above)

Now follow me here..... most effective humor has some truth in it. If you get hired here, you will find yourself in the minority when it comes to viewpoints you have claimed in some of your posts. Hence, the JEST. CompetentFool didn't say "change his political leanings TO become purple". His statement basically meant that once you're here, if you choose to share your views on a trip (hint: I would recommend you don't) you're not going fit in as easily (that whole minority thing again).

So, his suggestion was to change your views "BEFORE becoming purple" to make things a little easier for you (but.... since he posted it in JEST, he wasn't really being serious...)I know this is probably blowing your mind

So, there you have it. Now, think really hard about your response if you choose to post one. Because (are you ready??) - this whole post to you was made in JEST also. Isn't humor great?

Good luck and I hope (truly) to see you out on the line here someday.

No doubt, Adlerdriver. It REALLY helps, no matter what one thinks, to have a sense of humor and not take ones self too seriously, no matter what political leanings one has, in this job. There is nothing more tedious than listening to the lecturing of how one ought to think (and I've heard it, both left and right), with no sense of humor whatsoever going on, and purely the sense of self righteousness that is just plain boring to the other crewmember.

Just let it go, and keep it out of the cockpit. The reality is, far more people will be right than left here (probably because they are the high income taxpayers, not the receivers of benefits), so just change the subject when it gets uncomfortable.

Politics weren't discussed during my interview. If you THINK it's being brought up it's best to just laugh and nod. If you are so fired up about politics that you can't help but engage it's an indication you will bring it to the cockpit

On the line we all try to fit in. How good are you at that? Many CAs at FDX are staunch conservatives. Might be best not to challenge them while on probation. just my 2 cents.

Not that it currently matters (no hiring in near future), but I was asked how I'd act if ALPA went on strike in my interview (if that borders on politics)

I presume my response passed muster, as I was hired.
