It doesn't matter if you are/use to be Marines, Navy, Air Force, Army, Civilian, A Gator, A Buckeye...whatever

Where do you stand on us getting a new contract NOW?

Don't be. I did.

I don't disagree with what you said about us doing our part, but an army of properly trained and highly motivated soldiers still needs leaders.

I don't disagree with what our Secretary-Treasurer said, either, but why are we hearing that from the money and membership guy instead of the Chairman?

4,440 guys motivated and taking the initiative to do something out of frustration that negotiations have dragged on long enough will only create chaos and probably get some people fired. So far, the only direction we've received from our elected leader is a measured expression of disappointment. If he wants us to be anything other than just a little disappointed, he needs to model a different behavior.

What if...4400 pilots emailed the PAC a short, respectful note to let their displeasure with the lack of progress in contract negotiations be known? Doesn't even need to go to the Fleet Mgr directly. You can bet the Fleet Mgr and every swinging Richard above him will get the message loud and clear...and fast. That would be a simple yet effective show of unity NOW...and a good start.

I disagree with this tactic. The PAC is nothing more than what the old flight ops admin people used to be. These are very helpful and intelligent people that TRULY want to help the pilot group.....sadly, they are mere pawns under BM's control. All this tactic would do is swamp them with emails that would inhibit them from doing what they really need to be doing...helping the pilots.

That harmless 6 hr trip you pick up to plus up your line needs to be looked at.

If 25% of guys are doing this then 1100x6=6600/68=97 bodies. Can our staffing accept 100 guys just up and vanishing? How about 200?

And why are we doing flaps 35? An extra 100lbs per app /6.7 x 50 flights a day x28 daysx12 monthsx3.50agallon= real money.

Safety first. I will be rested and fly the aircraft in the safest configuration.

That's why we need 1 leader, not 4,440.

I think that the philosophy of SS is a bit different then some may like. I think its wrong to assume he isn't sending a message, just not (yet) personally. It appears that the MEC SEC is the barking dog at this point and we should assume he is speaking on behalf of All
the MEC.
In diplomacy, the top man doesn't get down into the fight until others have tried and failed to send the message, in our case to both the crew force and management.
It's time to read between the lines and catch the drift of the MEC, not just the speaker of the day. If this plays out (sadly) as it has in the past, the MEC Chair will be obliged to lead the charge. At this point it is up to us to let management know that this has dragged on far enough.

Good point, however...they are also smart enough, based on the Subject line, to apply inbox triage to the deluge of emails submitted by whatever percentage of pilots decide to participate. Considering all 4400+ don't read APC and word of mouth would travel slowly, I would suggest a target date of 6/16 or later to get the word out and then all emails submitted same day. That being said, we could always skip the middle man and go directly to our FMs, although slightly more confrontational. This is just a start...I would think informational picketing would be next but that requires a little more effort than shooting off an email from your recliner with adult beverage within arm's reach. Gotta build some momentum to overcome inertia.

No, no, no, no.

2 people reading between the lines receive 2 different messages and go 2 different directions. 4,440 people reading between the lines ... mass chaos.

We deserve a clear message with no ambiguity, no Hint and Hope. For unity, we require it.

I think it's very clear what they're saying. I think they have to be incredible carefully how they say it. But to me, and should be to the rest of us, it's very clear, now is the time.
