FDX Negotiation Update
#21
... since the "Bridge" or "Interim" contract, which we were told would not reset the negotiations clock. Remember, we were told the NMB smiles on our process, and will count the 2 years of "Mid-term Talks" or "Interim Discussions" as part of our RLA negotiations process.
We're closing in on our 4th year and 4th peak since our last real contract became amendable.

.
Two raises that we would not have had during the interim.

I'm not arguing with you, but ...
Why should individuals make personal sacrifices for a cause when every message from leadership conveys that things are just fine?
Our Strategic Preparedness and Strike Center is a one-room repurposed office in the already overcrowded MEC office space. If the MEC isn't serious about this, why should a rank and file member get serious?

You should be asking yourself questions like, "What if we called for a strike and no one even called in sick?"
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
This needs to be a grass roots effort. We need to show the MEC what we want starting with our individual actions.

Besides "smiles", which is nice, we do have a little more going for us.
Two raises that we would not have had during the interim.
Please don't say we gave up our leverage with the FDA stuff.
Your position is a play on John Kerry -
"You were for it (FDA LOA 1) before you were against it (adding CGN)."

We are in YEAR 4 of contract negotiations!

As for words from leadership, they are telling us everything they want us to hear, not necessarily everything that is happening.

The average FedEx pilot didn't even have Pay Raise in his Top 5 CBA Improvements, but we couldn't wait for a complete CBA Negotiation to get an hourly rate increase? We've lost more in Accepted Fares abuse over the last 3 years than we gained with 2 pay bumps, and we only memorialized moving the line on our pay rates over time graph to the right, leaving a permanent gap under the slope we had.
Yes, we had leverage, and we squandered it, but that's history. Where are we today? Any closer to achieving your Top 5 CBA Improvements?

.[/QUOTEAgreed. But in the future, I wish the union would hold these events at a venue the respects our second amendment rights. I have not been able to attend one yet due to Buffalo Wild Wings polices.[/QUOTE]
A perfect example of what is preventing us from getting substantial contract improvements. The idea of FedEx pilots actually taking action is ludicrous because we have continued to put ourself before the group. It's always "somebody do something, just not me." Where a lanyard? "It doesn't matter." Don't fly open time? "It fits my schedule" Come to a union function? "No, corporation Buffalo WW is against the constitution and wants to destroy the America I Love" . Rant on the internet uselessly? Ok! (This post as an example)
An object thinking of itself continues to think of itself until acted on by an outside force.
To lighten the mood: At least the vacation won't have concessions. It was listed as mostly complete.

What you should be hearing is we are very unhappy about the progress of negotiations, and we will be calling on you to demonstrate our collective displeasure. We will begin Informational Picketing to protest FedEx's intransigence and bad-faith negotiations.
But, that might hurt somebody's feelings, so enjoy your extra flying.
