True people aren't leaving, but please don't assume that TIME OFF is the reason or that it is commonplace for the junior. Its more a matter of luck, when you have no seniority.

I was hired in 2007 and have never been able to conflict to turn 1 week of VAC into a month off as your example indicates. Its more common for me to have VAC on days off lately ...

As long as the "downsides" to this job don't kill you, its a great place to have a career.

How does the reserve system work? I have only relatively senior captain contacts and they don't say much about reserve life.

Am I to interpret this that at UPS if your bid vacation lands on days off, you cannot slide them to cover work days?

Correct. The same also applies to training. I've been here 10 years and couldn't fit my training over days off due to limited dates given.

I find no application yet. When you say you hit "go" are you just referring to the qualifying questions?

Only an official union called open time ban or no JA would be illegal. If guys just don't want to they don't have to do open time or take a JA.

This statement is more accurate. For a junior pilot to pull this off is a rarity , even the senior pilot has to work at it to make it happen. Is working at UPS a good job? It pays well, you fly with some great people, the company is solid financially, you have a great union. Downside, the schedules are tough, the company isn't SWA and never will be, you have to remember that the company never gives gifts , everything you have was hard fought by the IPA.

Shy Guy, I only found qualifying questions and no application. Did I miss something?

Lol- My Decent Contract is a 15% pay raise day one, followed by 2% for infinity. 3.5K per year A-plan, maintain 55 as an early out and no hit. (we take a 8% per year now- total of 40% hit on A-plan if one leaves at 55!!

And QOL issue's galore! Hotels, catering, drop below guarantee option, open time trips aren't scheduling's until 12 out. Now it's 48 hours, which is just stupid. etc, etc.
