What if there are multiple Captains jumpseating?! OMG! How will we ever determine who is the real Captain?
Pretty tough to simply ask, way too difficult. Take away the most versatile, practical and POPULAR jacket option because you can't tell who is the Captain? How about security on layovers? Do we really want to wear something that screams pilot when we are out on the town trying to find something to eat? Boggles the mind. |
BMs advice is the past has been for the pic to email the other Crew members and coordinate outer garment wear.
Because this is whats so important to have us all emailing company emails on our time off. Black socks with the Leather jacket si

As to security, the leather jacket has always been a give away. If security was an issue, guys wouldn't wear the leather jacket with the blank patch where the name tag goes.
I take it one step further...I email all crews that will be on a layover in the same city and advise them what jackets not to wear. Safety is my highest priority. |

I have always thought the idea of both of us wearing the same jacket on a layover was a security issue. That is why it's a good idea for Capts to email their crew, concerning what jacket to wear.

Can't wait to be a captain, then phone my female FO and ask in a husky voice "hey....uh...whatcha wearin'?....on our trip I mean..."
Pretty much figure after my hearing the legal team will put out an FCIF to "stop doing that..." ASAP. |

One pilot asked him... How would that work for Reserve crews? ...or when the Capt & FO lines in the bid pack don't contain the same trips? ...or when guys trip trade last minute? There was a long pause before he just moved on to a different topic He clearly hadn't thought it thru That's what happens when you don't fly the line regularly, and only bounce your ideas off others flying desks too |
