People who don't have the uniform bank left to fully pay for a expensive leather jacket. People who need a couple of costly items in the same year. I'm sure people would be happy to give them the jacket back for the uniform funds they spent on them, to buy something else they would have liked.

It's easy to spread the cost of a leather jacket over two years, and still have money to buy pants and shirts.

Pilots who upgrade and gain 50 pounds +or- an @ssload!

When you upgrade, they give you a set of epaulettes, and you can get a strand of braid for the blouse. Any tailor shop can sew on an extra stripe on the sleeves.

I thought pilots were supposed to be cheap, and airline pilots especially so. If you're paying for uniform items out of pocket, you're beginning to worry me.

This reminds me of how out of touch the USAF was when I decided to bail.

Anyone remember the Blue-DUs?

Or how about the proposed Heil Hitler uniforms?

I was thinking something more like this with a purple sash.

Yes. That's what I want. Forget the leather jacket. That is my new single item issue for the contract. And for every BZ you get a new star shaped medal to pin on.

I wish we had something a more comfortable or relaxed professionally uniform.

Since we don't have passengers to impress in the terminals, why do we need to wear the traditional pilot suit and tie? Since the majority of our job is at night on a dim lit ramps, I'd rather have some type of jumpsuit or utility uniform that is more comfortable and has hi-vis stripes. You also wouldn't have to worry about any aircraft fluids dropping onto your white shirt.

There's nothing like sweating to death in a heat soaked aircraft wearing a white dress shirt, tie, undershirt, and polyester wool plants trying to cool off.

Also, there's nothing like freezing to death in Anchorage with -5F, 25 MPH winds, and blowing snow in a pilot jacket, dress shirt and undershirt, tie flapping in the wind, dress shoes walking around in the snow, etc.etc.

The pilot suit and tie doesn't work so well operationally.
