One more question......

If you get hired into the 767, how soon can you bid the 744?

or is there a longterm seat lock?

R1 is home reserve and you only get the minimum guaranty...which for first year pilots is 50 hours at $75 per hours for 767 and 744. After your thirteenth month starts, it is 62 hours at $95 for 744, and 62 hours at $79 per hour for 767. R1 accrues no per diem.

R2 is reserve at your base, and the Rig is applicable...using the above pay rates. During R2, Atlas provides airline ticket, hotel, and per diem, to the location of your reserve assignment.

Hope that helps.
Good luck.

You're stuck for 3 years, unless you can upgrade.

3 year seat lock for new hires. Unless, your equipment gets sent to the desert, like the 747 Classics. Several classes of 747 Classic FO's that were hired last year will be able to take the 744 or 767, their choice since they are being displaced from equipment.

However, if the 3 year lock is in place, the company can waive that lock at their discretion to allow them to fill vacancies in any other equipment...therefore, bid what you want after you finish training on the first equipment.

And they proceed to treat all of these costs as income and you get taxed straight off the top! Expect to lose 30% of yor income if you get stuck pulling R2. They won't tell you that in the interview....

This kind of flying is a great gig for a single guy...

How else could you go from party to party all over the world...

Just throw your hat in the ring, start doing the research, and hope for the best. If you get called, and get the job, YOU make the decision based on the research you have done.

If you don't try, you'll never know. If you decide it is not for you, don't take the job, and let someone else take it.

Good luck...and btw, read the entire Atlas hiring thread in one of the other sections...it is long but if it doesn't answer most of your questions, the ask away. And we'll do our best to help you out.

But you gotta do the homework...read the entire thread. (stomping my feet now) read the entire thread.

Oh yeah, did I mention? Read the entire thread...

The above explanation is ALMOST correct. Below is taken directly from our CBA:

New Hire Training Pay. A New Hire Crewmember as defined in
Section 2 of this Agreement shall receive $1,600.00 per month
in lieu of any other compensation set forth in this Section 3 from
his date of hire to completion of OE or for four (4) months,
whichever occurs first. Thereafter, the Crewmember shall be
compensated in accordance with this Section 3 in the same
manner as other Crewmembers.

Training is @ 2 months. Seems like 747 guys get 4-5 weeks off before OE. Right now on the 767, we'll get off training pay before we see the airplane.
