I think Eastern was depending on the Cuban market unfortunately that's did not work. I think investors will want there money, and I don't think Eastern has made enough. Swift is a government contractor (for most part) and I think Viola would get a lot of heat if Eastern and Swift merged or one bough the other. I think Easter is on their own and unfortunately with no much $$ left.

Domestic certificate wouldn't have done very little for Eastern. What's their "special marker" which other established carriers don't go? They needed Cuba to stay limited/restricted. I don't wish bad for the pilots there but the company has very little to offer the general public. I don't see a long term outcome for Eastern. Hopefully another 737 carrier can buy them so everyone can stay employees.

It's sad what this clowns did to such great name in aviation history, starting with Ed Wegel, let's face it he's not the sharpest guy out there, a good portion of his previous jobs were with defunct airlines now. Most of the 36st rejects that were hired he approved them. The business model was horrible charter flights to Cuba were the lowest bidder gets the contract insanely dumb, they were hoping to flight to Central America and South America from Miami without first having a presence on the east coast was suicide. Plus if anyone dares to start with a hub in Miami they better be prepared to loose money for a good 5-7 yrs, am not sure how they deep their pockets were, but by the way it looks now not very.
Swift will buy the name and trademarks and 5-7 years from now they will sell it to some sucker and they will do the same mistakes that this administration did. Starting by hiring 36th reject who will again rum this place down.

Well wouldn't doubt it if they started again with the panam name again this time and play the same game. Swift will probably sell the name to pay off leases. There really is no physical assets at eastern. Wonder what the lease terms are on the old -800.
Sadly seems the DOT just keeps allowing the same 36th mafia to start an airline every 5 years.

Rumors
That it's going to be restructered. The certificate would be difficult to give up seeing how long it takes to get one. I also heard the sim breaks down a lot.
I do not think it would be difficult to find a 737 job in Miami right now if that's what you wanted to do.
I think Amerijet will be hiring soon and they have a new pay deal.
Yes, I know, corrosion corner. Not everyone wins the lottery though.
Happy Memorial day and thank you to our Veterans on here!
