C5 expanding?

I don’t think it’s quite that simple. Having a type rating in the 145 will make training much more likely to be smooth, but I don’t think you can just skip the whole training footprint because you have a type. I’m sure the C5 SOPs are slightly different than other carriers. Maybe I’m wrong.

Prior to COVID C5 had around 10K block hours and XJT around 35K. Right now we have 2500 and XJT has 5000. Based on the predicted schedules for September and beyond it’s fair to say C5 will have to hire to fill XJT’s shoes even if E145 flying schedules are reduced overall.

It's not automatically available, the carrier has to apply and get it approved but it would be more than worth the modest effort for the cost savings if you expect to hire numerous current pilots.

So C5 was staffed for 10k hours and now between C5 and Xjet there is 7500 hours and you think that there will need to be hiring? Assuming none of Xjet flying goes to G7 OO or ZW, you still have enough people to staff it all.

Yer.....I'm thinking the same..... not much faith in the organizations planning ability.

Block hours today are not equivalent to pre covid block hours. Today's flying is much less efficient requiring more crews and aircraft per block hour.

I can’t give specifics because they’re considered proprietary information but increases in flying are coming and I will say that our management appears to be more concerned with coming up short on labor to execute the contract vs being over staffed. The flying is ours to lose.

If you guys do expand and plan to hire former XJT pilots, it would be wise to stay away from the very senior guys over there. Good pilots, but most of them are former ASA guys who like to **** and moan about everything. I can understand their frustrations given all they have been through, but it makes for a long trip sitting next to someone like that all day!
