No dusting needed. In the endless quest for cheap regional feed, they are flown from the "expensive carrier" directly to the cheap carrier with little time inbetween for dust to accumulate.

A neighbor's son is interviewing soon with Commutair and hoping for an IAD base.
How do you guys like flying the Dash? Easy/fun to fly? Straight analog or do you have some basic glass? How many legs per day on average in the Dash?

The dash is a great first aircraft for someone new to commercial aviation. Its more a slightly upgraded 6 pack instrument panel that is great to fly. Jets have comforts and shiny screens but are somewhat boring with the automation.
We do a variety of trips but 3-5 legs of about an hour leg on average. More up and down than jet flying but ive done 5 leg days on the jet in a former airline. Great people and good outlook for the near future. Jets will be coming online soon enough and plans to replace Dash are out there. Let him know emb145 are going to be the future of this airline.

Line holders can expect anything between 12-18 days off. Days off and commutability are largely a function of seniority, so it's really hard to give you an exact answer.
The more senior you are, the better everything gets.

Question for someone new to this airline thing, and looking to be starting class this month, with upgrade mins (prior 135 PIC time)
I'm assuming these guys were just getting off IOE on the Dash before upgrading to the EMB. Is it possible/make sense to bid the Dash as FO as a new hire, then upgrade to CA in the EMB? Or does the seat lock prevent a cross-type upgrade?
Looking forward to becoming part of the team and having an actual schedule for the first time since I hauled checks in the early 00's.
