If you come as a DEC you will be on reserve for a long time. (Reserve rules are less than 1 page in the CBA, and its the worst in the industry ). QOL for people coming starting in December will not be great.
We are at 340 pilots now.
C5 late last year before the ERJs came was running around 9.0 pilots per AC.
We are going to be a 40 airplane company. Thats 360 total pilots needed. They need to get the option for 20 more ERJ signed and announced ASAP.
Anyone who says we are going to be 600 pilots is assuming we already have that option signed, and that we are going to go to 10/ AC.
The real question is how many dashes will be flying after we take the 40th ERJ and have not signed the option for 20. That ends in Furloughs.
I don't mean to sound like a downer, but the gravy train here is definitely leaving the station unless things change.

The reserve rules are not worse than most other places. I have been on reserve at another airline and I find that at least here you can have more flexibility.
We are getting the 40 ERJs, it is a rumor that the option for 60 will be exercised, plus possibly even more. There will be a 3rd base opening late next year. It hasn't been announced/decided yet, but it will be a UAL hub.
All that said, C5 is a good place to be, and the movement/growth isn't slowing down at all. It's still prime time to come aboard now.

Smooth dude, perhaps you should wait until you get off probation before you attempt to represent yourself as a C5er. Unless your attitude changes, you're not going to make any friends here.

the sooner you get in the better, but I certainly don't see it slowing down anytime soon. Worse case you replace all the dashes with 40 erjs. That's about 400 pilots, especially if you're operating outta 3 bases. now everything I have heard from anybody in management is 600 pilots to staff the erj's. united wanted us to take many more than the 40, but it was C5 who limited it to 40 with 20 options because they knew it was a lot to bite off in a short amount of time, especially when you consider it was a jet fleet...not something C5 has ever done. My guess is the announcement for the 20 more will be coming, but not until we can start operating smoother and can get more people trained. The dashes are going away, and they have said numerous times that they will park them early and pay the termination fee if it blocks or slows down growth on the erj side. Now if you factor in attrition to majors, LLC, and the CPP, even if we did only get 40 and growth stops there, someone hired in the next year will be sitting prettty good.
What will be interesting is if we can fill classes once the quick upgrade go away. I personally do not think we will be able to compete with the other regionals that have upped their pay, and contracts. C5 is going to HAVE to do something to compete. our contract when signed was pretty good (very good for pay protection, horrible for reserve rules) but since then a lot has changed in the regional industry. If united wants C5 to become their "go to" for regional feed, they are going to have to pull out the checkbook. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to see united purchase C5 100% and start doing what endevour does, but at the same time, I can see them saying screw it, gives us the 40-60 erj's and letting that be the end of it. With Scott Kirby now the new president of united and being prepped to take over....who knows what will happen with C5. Their purchase of C5 and our expansion was before he got their, and looking at Americans regionals prior to Kirby leaving, im not holding my breath.

The fact is that as soon as the relatively quick upgrade ends at C5, so will the growth. Staffing will be the biggest hurdle for management. And not just due to an inability to hire, but because attrition will really begin taking its toll on many regionals (including C5) starting next year. I'm not saying the airline will stagnate, I'm sure they'll be able to continue hiring enough to keep the operation going for quite some time, but eventually it's going to take a lot of money AND more growth to get enough new hires through the door. That's going to be a tough nut to crack by that time. UAL seems a little late to the game when it comes to staffing its regional feed like AA and DA have done and I would certainly expect more of the same with Kirby there.
You should consider prozac. You have issues.

And while 2.5 years is still relatively fast in todays market, it was considered lightning fast during the "lost decade". I believe the longest upgrade here was only 3.5 years.

Huh? I've been posting all over this forum for years. Since when did you become the APC gestapo? And I haven't been kicked out of any threads you weirdo. Go back to posting about the rainbows and unicorns over in our PSA thread. And for someone who tows the "stay in your own thread" line, I sure do see you popping up in a lot of other threads. I'm not here advocating anyone come work for my company. Only giving my educated opinion.
