FO here from another carrier. I fly the 145. Wondering when C5 will begin classes for the 145. Considering making a jump based on what is currently happening with my base, but I'd like to stay in the 145 and not learn a second airplane in less than a year. Any insight would be appreciated. Also, I hear and have read in previous posts that most of the CPP candidates are being turned down from UAL. Is there a common reason for this? What can people do to be better prepared to be successful with the CPP/UAL interview and Hogan test?

Yes, there's a common reason. Why poach from your own feed, when you can poach from others?

This is a golden carrot.

Exactly. Flows are designed to keep people at a company. Not get them to leave. But, knowing that you'll eventually get on the train is priceless.

Most current C5 pilots who failed the CCP busted on the Hogan, never getting to the face to face interview. Not much you can do to prep for the hogan

I don't know if "most" candidates are being turned down, it's still way too early to tell. Some bust the Hogan, others don't make it past the interview. Either way you get another shot after a year. You are going to be at any regional longer than a year anyways. We are growing and have super quick upgrade which will help you build the time for other Majors or LCC carriers as well. At a minimum, you have a great time at C5, some of the best people out there. Treat the CPP as if you got the call off the street because the interview process is the same. Do the interview prep, get your resume looked at, take your time. There isn't a need to rush it if you aren't ready.

The 145s training is looking like April for the first class of new hires. March class is full so timing would be solid if you got in now. PM me if you want further details.

Cannot stress this enough. Prepare as if you would on your Type ride for an upgrade. We treat every CPP client the same way we do a traditional UAL client. Call us if you need background info on the Hogan.

As a side note, this company is getting very bottom heavy and they are looking to upgrade as many people as they can. If you arent too keen on flying the jet and have a 1000 121 time you can upgrade as soon as you are comfortable. We have about 20 more FOs in a company of 210 with another 20 coming in March. Usually you want more Captains. Basically no reserves and a bunch are waiting for the jet. Im sure the seat lock isnt forever since jet is slowly coming online with most of the first batch of crew being in house checkpilots and such. With the bonus and uniform allowance youll make about captain pay first year. Just something to think about.

Right now I'm waiting to see what happens with our IAD base. Lines have shrunk to a point where the rumor mill is firing off that the slow down is more than the normal winter slow down and that IAD might close. Nothing official and the company has said the lines will build back up in the spring/summer. But if they don't, I want to keep my options open. I chose my current company for the driavable base and short reserve time. Though I've been here seven months now and am still on reserve. The next two or three months will determine what I do. I do not have 1000 121. Only about 300 right now. I appreciate the info guys. Thank you.

Where is C5 going to place the 145s? I've heard different things.

Thanks again.

What company are you at? I have heard that our flying the 145 will be taking over flying in Dulles for TSA as they shift their flying further west. Right now all 145 flying will be out of Dulles but there are talks about possibly opening a 145 ORD base by the end of the year
