Was in your jumpseat the other day and heard a rumour from the crew.
Is it true someone that resigned for another job is returning to CommutAir? If so, how is this handled by the company and the union? Do they go to the bottom of the seniority list? Or do they come back as if they never left? If I heard incorrectly, I apologise.
Asking as someone considering making a move to CommutAir.

No seniority is lost.
I know of at least one person personally who had done this.

Movement. That’s what they get. This policy emboldens people to move on, knowing they can come back if they blow it somewhere else. Aside from that, how many people are actually going to come BACK to an operation like c5 or XJT if they succeed at an LCC or Major?

Let's be technical. This was agreed in LOA #3 (updated in LOA #4).
You have a right to return for 120 days. After that, the company may rehire you and you return with your seniority up to 1 year from date of leaving. This is a one time shot deal.
Lots of people are finding the grass is not nearly as green on the other side of the fence as they thought.

Exactly how many I had thought. I would say that's far from "lots". :roll eyes:
The VAST majority of people leaving C5 are finding that the grass is, in fact, much greener. Especially considering the number leaving for other regionals and not coming back.

Let's also not forget that a fair number of the people leaving are getting hired at majors/ LCCs, so it's not all regional transitions. Speaking generally, I think it says a lot that 2 came back. The grass may be greener, but only because of all the dog turds that fertilize it.

Other than UA through the CPP, it's very rare that anyone leaves C5 for a decent airline through what I've seen. I saw many leave for Envoy, Endeavor, Air Wisconsin, corporate, SkyWest, Northern Air Cargo, Southern etc. From my class of 29 only 15 months ago, I believe there are only 10 left. The best airline any of them left for that I know of is JetBlue (and again, he had thousands of heavy hours). That's what I saw, if many people left for good places, by all means, post it.
Those are facts. Unfortunately it seems that C5 does not have a good reputation among some of the majors. I've been to job fairs and have witnessed the bias. This is one of MANY reasons that I chose to leave and recommend others stay away. Just my informed opinion.
