Thirdhand knowledge, take it for what it's worth
What I've heard floating around is Mana Air is buying all of TSH including Compass, probably Commutair as well. UAL will get a new deal on scope allowing more large RJs at Mana Air only in exchange for furlough protection. Mana Air will also have a flow up and down with UAL. It appears that if you aren't part of Mana Air, you will be on the outside looking in with UAL.

Mana Air was created for something bigger than just Expressjet in the failure of the Republic deal last year.

Not saying its a done deal. Nothing is in this business. But this is based on things I have heard from several sources, including UAL pilots.

If there is a way for TSH to screw up and get aced out of this, RL and HK will do it. But for now it looks like this could be where we are headed which will be good for everyone at TSH.

Now this is a good one and perhaps something behind it. With class dates continuing etc there is a need for staffing.

It had been getting a little slow on the rumor mill beyond Compass is doomed.

Next month is my ATP/CTP, looking forward to it. I like gambling.

Plausible but do you really think in such a high leverage for pilots market and majors printing money, that UAL pilots will cave on scope?

It all depends on 2 things,
Ual mgt give protection pilots want for wide body aircraft then throw a few bags of cash and then you have deal done.

For protection from outsourcing their wide body flying (which they currently don’t have and may be at risk through offshore partners) which is the highest paid positions on their payscale as well as the ability to assure the junior pilots a flow down in the event of furloughs they actually MIGHT. It removes the two greatest vulnerabilities their pilot’s group currently have. It may well be a salable proposition. Whether it can be sold, an LOA written up and signed off in time to help Compass is another question. But the continuation of recruiting and training classes would strongly imply that - if nothing else - Compass MANAGEMENT is willing to place a few bets and toss the dice too.

You missed the point. UA isn’t adding any more scope which is what that article is talking about. What we’re talking about RJ flying shifting from one regional to another. Total RJ airframe count remains the same. No additions and subtractions.

Well the other thing I heard was a billion dollars in retirement incentives and pay raises at UAL plus furlough protection in exchange for scope.

It is also very likely that UAL is going to move RJ flying to Mana Air from other regionals that it can't or won't buy, particularly those that do not accept United flow downs. From your comments it appeared you were saying scope has nothing to do with RJ counts, which it does. Lots going on right now and it is going to be an interesting next few months.

Looks like Mana Air will be the new golden child, but we will see.
