Q#2 With regards to company provided health insurance, what would be cost for family of four and the insurance company be?

$576/mo for a family for the good coverage. It can go down to $478 with a higher deductible etc I think, but yeah, not worth it probably. Insurance company is UnitedHealthcare. Only $153 for a single guy for others who are curious.
FWIW, we save almost 200/month by having my wife and kids on my wife's insurance and me sticking with CPZ insurance just for myself. If that's an option for you. The only bad part is that our family doctor stopped taking UHC at the beginning of the year so now we can't have the same doctor.

I believe the plan offers a brokerage account through Schwab. Open it and invest in VOO which is the ETF option for the 500 index.

I'm interested in learning the latest from the ranks so, a few questions if I may.
I'm a 2100+ TT pilot in Phoenix with about 250 ME and a bit over 500 turbine (single, vfr, part 135) and haven't touched an airplane in 8 years. The thought has crossed my mind to make a run at the majors via Compass.
Q#1 What is realistic take home pay for the starting line FOs these days?

Q#2 With regards to company provided health insurance, what would be cost for family of four and the insurance company be?

Q#3 What is the likelihood of getting PHX, or at least LAX as base these days?

Q#4 Are we expecting or seeing any signs of slow down in attrition over the next year or so?

Q#5 With a floor of 85 hours a month, what kind of actual duty time can a pilot expect to put in on a weekly/monthly basis?

Q#6 Do we have any idea what recruiting might require as far as recency experience? (I'm a little rusty but working on it.)

Q#7 Would you all mind sharing your views and experience of training so I have a better idea what to expect?

Q#8 Any tips for success to pass training, check rides, and generally being an awesome airline pilot.

Q#9 What are the current CA upgrade times?

Q#10 What's the latest on the merger talks?

Thanks in advance for all your help and wisdom.

Q1: You could count on 85-90hrs per month plus per diem which would be somewhere in the $400-$600 range for line holders.
Q2: Not sure
Q3: Either out of training no problem (right now, can only speak for today)
Q4: Meh, hard to say but I don’t think so
Q5: FO’s currently fly their butts off but it’s dying down slowly and the more senior guys are getting back to 15+ days off/mo
Q6: Get a 135/91 gig for a few months and CP will take you in the winter/spring when they get super short again because they refuse to stay on top of hiring and don’t like being fat on pilots
Q7: Prior 121 = cake, no 121 = tough but not so if you study and apply yourself
Q8: Study, devote, and don’t think you deserve this. Once on the line just learn the compass wave and you’ll be fine.
Q9: The most junior guy on the last award was a Nov. 2016 hire, so just under 24mo
Q10: Just..........don’t

It's almost like they learned nothing when they stopped hiring pilots for several months. Now they are junior manning stews since they quit hiring them for several months.

Thanks again for the help. Sorry, didn't mean to touch a sore spot on #10.

Health insurance is UHC, PPO coverage for full family is $288/check, or $576/month. Dental is Delta Dental of MO, again full family coverage is $7.36/check or $14.72/month.

Just looked at the ops update email. Maybe I haven't been looking at them recently, but just saw now how low our D-0 is. I don't think I've seen it that low in a while.

Seattle hasn't helped our cause much. Lack of gates and ramp congestion have been major issues up there along with the GDPs for the smoke from the fires. There was a flight last week that took an 8 hour delay because Seattle ops couldn't move the plane off the hard stand.

Also they are short manned with Rampers in SEA that really doesn't help!
