And no, I'm not asking for them to hold my hand or do everything for me. I'm the one who went through the process to become a military officer and pilot. I made the transition to fixed wing and 121 training with zero set backs or failures. Took it upon myself to volunteer, continue education beyond a Bachelor's, get app reviews, seek out internal recs, take the first possible upgrade, and go to the job fair to see them. I'm doing what I can to try and stand out and show my determination and desire. I'd like to think I'm on the right path, but who really knows.

Keep doing what you're doing? I know quite a few other people who were told the same genetic response. Giving us something to work with would be appreciated because nobody really knows what they're looking for. Not when some people with 6k hours are passed up and they take others with 3k hours or even less.
You and 8000 other RJ pilots have the same specs/ speech and get the same answer. Things you can do stand out even further:
- community involvement (and I don’t mean something generic like a soup kitchen). Get involved with something you’re passionate about.
- Company: LCA/SLIP/project pilot
- Union: Safety/communications
- classes: start slow progress towards a masters? More generic training and qualifications?

Hopefully this will help some people here get a ballpark idea, just some “feelings” I’ve picked up from a few airlines this past month. Of course this all changes day to day.

For something Blue: 3000+ TT is very important. PIC time “not a big deal”. Culture culture culture.

For something yellow: 2500TT+ and a little PIC is ideal. No PIC is not a dealbreaker, but might want higher total time without. Explosively growing/hiring in 2020, which will help applicants.

For something Wild: don’t worry you can flow by 2045

For day trips in an Airbus: seems 2500TT and some PIC could possibly do the trick.

Something Sunny: literally an ATP and a medical

Disclaimer, this is just feelings I’ve felt interacting with them. Nothing is official

Appreciate the response.

Volunteer at a no kill dog shelter simply because I enjoy working with the dogs. Been doing for over a year and will continue to.

Working on Master's, 3.5 so far.

Will explore company opportunities after getting some PIC time. At least get through my 100 hours.

Thanks again

Well shoot. With those quals I’m sure some PIC and TT will land you at Delta.

Taco, This was my humble experience. upgraded in 2017, thought i might get lucky and went to ngpa coz its a close drive from la, received all the ‘keep doing what you doing speech’. Back then i was angry too, every month hearing someone junior to me got on with the major and why not me?!

2.5 years later with 2000pic, got on with LCA, regular community involvements. obap 2019, talked to 3 of my dream airlines and got invite AND cjo from 2 of them. Honestly these 2000hours ain't easy, but I am glad at cpz my crews made my job really easy. I am sure i will miss this place.

Be humble, stay positive, And never think you are over/qualify, I always told my FO, they lower the hiring minimum coz the chief pilot can hire their own son.

Do you expect the snack basket committee to do everything for you? What's next? Actually procure beef jerky and put it in the snack basket? We're busy enough as it is trying to get our own beef jerky, much less trying find beef jerky for you!!!!!!
