I'm most likely gonna by pass first.. If we lose flying, I'll flow. If they open a base west of LAS, I'll flow. Otherwise I'll take my chances getting more tpic, safety committee, and try to get an LCA slot for a legacy. If can't move up in the bypass period, then I guess I'll flow and keep trying.

I'll preface this post by saying everyone's situation is unique and they should do what's best for them and their family. That being said I'll take it as soon as my number comes up. Frontier is an infinitely better place to work than compass. You have better QOL, job security and make 6 figures by year two. We have a tendency to be quite sheltered here at cpz with our most senior pilots only being on the list for 10 years. Most other airlines have seniority lists full of pilots who cant get the dream call for one reason or another. We're no different than any other pilot group and many of us may never get the call despite having a clean record and all the qualifications. So I'd go with the bird in the hand.. nothing says you cant keep our dream airline app current while you work for a real airline and have a good QOL. .

My apps been in since they signed the new contract. Contrary to popular belief in these forums getting on with Spirit and Frontier is not as easy as just hitting the submit button on their hiring page.. (not insinuating you believe that. Just a response to your question.) Also for reference I'm a middle of the pack CA.

Every recruiter I've talked to at a legacy airline has said that they prefer guys who have Part 121 PIC time (even at a regional) over LCC/ULCC FO time, even if it's another type rating (and even in something that the legacy airline flies). Their reasoning is they want to see someone make those PIC decisions (since they're hiring someone imagining them being a captain, not just a FO) and even if they already have the type, they'll still have to go through training on that plane. In light of that information, that's why I chose to stick it out at Compass. Full disclosure, only 1 of my 5 "dream" companies called me (and 1 of them even told me I wasn't competitive enough to even tour their headquarters), so it's not always true that "once one of them calls, they all call." So in light of that, I can see why some guys would take the flow if presented.
