I went through back in 2015 and came out of a 172 and so did the other 6 people in my class no one needed extra help except one guy.
As for being content with $90K as regional Captain. That’s great. But you are leaving a lot on the table.
I’m at Father Blue now. 90K first year in the right seat will be easy. Plus the company deposits 16% of my paycheck into my 401K every 2 weeks not some weak 3% match or whatever the “legacy regionals” are offering these days.
All while sitting there in the right seat not worried about a thing and saying “whatever you think is best Captain” not stressing about a 1000 R-ATP sitting in the right seat about to get me violated on a crossing restriction or an FA coming up to give me a laundry list of broken items in the back.
In 18 months it will be $150k+ to still just sit there and not have a care in the world. I guess if I’m a greedy masochist I can take the upgrade on the 190 or A220 at the 2 year mark and invite all that stress back into my life but it will be for $200-$240k a year not 90k...reserve is 6 months at most majors right now and at JetAzul we don’t have lines with less than 15 days off typically so I’m not buying the regional QOL excuse.
Turning down a major for “QOL” at the regionals is not a good look my friend.
