As far as upgrade, the one year upgrade is a thing of the past. When I interviewed in April the 12 to 14 months to upgrade was changed to 24 months. Anyone that comes on now will be on reserve for a while and it is anybody’s guess on when upgrade will occur.
I don’t really want to start a flow discussion but there are now too many variables to consider. They are flow, the economy, and if Delta is going to give us any more airplanes.
All I know is the fast upgrades to the left seat are gone for now.

From: Non flying, pays better than any front seat, home every night, not missing the crashpad/
I would say that hiring has come to a screeching halt. We had some hired with a class and the class was canceled. So we now have a pool waiting for a class.

That would be almost worse than being outsourced like what is happening to the midwest express pilots being put to the street.?

Hi!
Barring $150+/barrel oil prices, the -9s will be parked when the "C" series aircraft replace them starting in 2012, so that won't factor into any potential furloughing.
The last I heard DAL was hiring 150, maybe more, and NWA was on schedule to hire about 450. I hope it holds up.

Yes, but it was no surprise to anyone. We were only promised 36 aircraft, and will probably only get 36, no more for a while. I think I see a shift from airline execs buying comfy 175's to more fuel-efficient, uncomfortable 900's.
