I am in the April 28th indoc class...Just trying to get an idea of what the popular options are during training in minnie....I've heard crashpad and hotel's are both viable options..Anyone have any experience with one vs the other? pros/cons?

The obvious ones are the hotel is probably much more conducive to studying but is also never going to be as cheap as the crashpad unless you turn it into one with multiple guys. I took the hotel option one time and after that $1000 bill i decided never again and now opt for the crashpad or possibly room rental every time ive been to an extended training session.

My classmates did the Country Inn and Suites. 49 a nite. They were bored out of their minds it seemed like, but we were there in DEC and JAN and had some nasty weather, so they got stuck there 1 or 2 weekends.
PM if you want the guys number.
oops, I quoted the wrong person.

The director of training came in to our systems class and assured us that legally we are entitled to an E-175 PIC type rating since it's in the CBA. If we decide to leave Compass before becoming captains, and we give them enough notice, they will schedule a PIC type rating course before you leave. He also said they are trying to resolve it now so that new hires will again be given the type, and for those of us who are not being typed now, we will be typed in our 1-year Maneuver Validation ride if the issue has been resolved. The problem is that the training used to all be accomplished in the left seat (since it's a PIC type), and the POI didn't like that we were training in the left seat for a right seat position.
As far as housing, the best options are crashpads, which are mostly full (so get on the wait lists now), and the Country Inn & Suites in Eagan. They have a crew discount of $45 / night + tax. Split that with one of your classmates and it works out to $125 / week. I took the CIS option, and so far it's working great. It's a pretty nice place, very quiet, McDonald's next door, and a full breakfast buffet every morning.

That's pretty clear and specific. If you don't have a full type rating, you haven't finished initial. I understand no one wants to rock the boat on it, but the union seems pretty content with letting the company supply type ratings at their leisure/convenience. I heard Flight Safety has a 170 course...
