Any new hire classes planned?

Speedbird172 08-01-2011 09:28 PM

Hoping someone can spare me digging through this thread to look for some info.....how are the reserve rules at Compass? And what kind of commuter policy do you folks have? Thanks in advance

Reserve rules: different (from what I was used to)
Everything is short call (2 hours to report, plus 45 minutes to preflight)
11 days off, 75 hours min pay. Seniority is not technically observed, the 'silo' method is used, for example: 3 people have 4 days of reserve remaining, when a 4 day trip needs a reservist the person with the lowest block hours for the month is called. If a 2 day is open, someone with only 2 days of reserve remaining is called, if no one is available then the person with 3 days of reserve remaining is called, etc.
Reserve periods typically are 0400 - 1900, 0800 - 2300, 1100 - 0200.

Same commuter policy I've always seen, we must give ourselves 2 options. If you call scheduling a day before reserve starts they can occasionally assign you a late reserve period (11 am - 2 am).

Crew Scheduling will help you if they can. For the most part, they are fair. Trips are awarded as described above. There are five Reserve Availability Periods (RAPs). RAP 1 is 0400-1900, RAP 2 is 0800-2300, RAP 3 is 1100-0200, RAP 4 is 1400-0500, and RAP 5 is 1900-1000 (not used very often).

Anyone know if new hires are getting MSP? I am at 9L and considering trying to switch so i can be based at home. Seems MSP base here would be a long time. Plus the ATP and PIC type are tempting

The classes have generally had both bases available. It took 2 months for someone in my class to get msp. Started in Nov, hit the line in FEB, and April I think they got msp. Lately people have gotten right off the bat.

Well i just started at 9L, but wont have 1500tt for a couple months. Hopefully the offer from HR that ill get an interview at 1500 still stands. What are your thoughts on the future? Would you give up 150 below you and holding a line? Im based in BOS and two leg it from North Carolina, but planning on moving home to MSP in the next 6 months

Are there any calls currently going out? If so, can you please share your background. Thanks

Future: Who knows, if Delta hires things should move fairly quickly. Right now things are in a kind of a holding pattern.

Not sure if calls are currently going out, I know they will be at a couple job fairs. They seem to like people with 121 time, but they have recently been hiring people without any.

I had 4700tt, 4200multi, 4000 p121...when called/interviewed. I had my resume in for over a year before they called.

I got picked up with 4000TT, an ATP, and a couple type ratings. Pretty much the same as what Blue said earlier. I submitted my app a year prior to the sound of crickets, one year later, a quick update, and got a call back in less than 48 hrs. My only exception is 0 121 time. I'm one of the 135/Corporate slugs that made it through. I had no internal recommendations and it seems to me from what I have seen/heard is once you've had your stuff in for 6-12 months, if you update and have the "magic" stuff on your resume they are looking for, you'll get a call. Take it for what its worth, just seems to be what I hear a lot. Good luck guys!!
