Actually that was exactly the "rumor" that I heard, MTY was returning and that it would be an overnight. Now as far as DTW closing, who knows... It will be tough to do the LAX flying w/o a base there, considering our closest base is a 4 hour flight away. That could be a logistical nightmare with the rumored 30+ departures per day (as of Sept it looks like we already have 20 ish). It would make sense for Delta to get some Embraers out on the Left Coast permanently, that's why they probably won't do it. Every other airline (3 or 4 of them) do LAX - SFO with mainline aircraft while Delta uses CRJ 900s. At least the E175 would be an improvement!

A base doesn't have to close for another one to open. This was a 3 base airline at one point.
After talking to someone in the know yesterday it sounds like the
Aircraft will be routed like they were with the slc flying. That is overnights in shared cities outwest with other bases. Dtw is getting a few more departures back at the end if summer. Dtw has never been a big out and back base for cpz as long as I have been here. It is however conveniently located in the DElta system.
If is very expensive to move crews and I doubt they will unless something big happens.

I was based in DTW for about 3 years and have been in MSP for a little more than 2 now, even did 3 months in MEM right out of training. DTW used to have a lot of turns when I was there; BNA, SDF, EWR, JFK, ORF, BWI, JAX, SAT, IAH, MTY, MYR, to name a few. I just see it as logistically tough for LAX being that it is another 1.5 hours past SLC, and that SFO flying will create a lot of irregular ops! (far more than SNA or ONT did) They will open that LAX bases a couple months before Delta starts hiring, and I get to start commuting to NYC or DTW, what a tease! That said, I'm not rooting for nor predicting a DTW closure, a pull down of MSP flying could just as easily happen. Especially considering Pinnacle is about to get more 76 seat aircraft. But I do think a DTW closure is more likely now than it was 2 or 3 years ago.

I misspoke. The MCI-LAX rounds and LAX-SFO rounds start in September. There is also a bunch of LAX flying that is currently not loaded into the schedule that will start in January. Talking about PSC, SEA, LAS, PDX, etc... The DTW base is simply not needed today, much less with reduced East flying. 6 scheduled flights tomorrow in DTW.. you think that constitutes a base? Just let this whole thing play out... its all still in the works.
Also if you look at the schedule for LGA flying in January... you will see our flying has indeed been reduced. Shuttle replaces us on some of the LGA-DFW trips, we are no longer flying LGA-IAH, LGA-IND, LGA-JAX is down to one, and a bunch of other reductions. Are we out completely? No... but it is reduced.

Just curious what your sources are on all these flights to the Pacific NW out of LAX? DeltaNet, TravelNet, and Delta.com do not reflect any flying other than LAX-SFO, LAX-MCI, and SFO-SLC. Regardless, I am seriously looking forward to these flights, and especially the layovers during the winter. Also, FWIW, the Compass Jobs site now has openings for MTX Supervisors in MCI, LAX, and SFO.
As far as crew domiciles, at this point, what anyone says here is entirely speculation, so anyone combing this forum trying to get info, don't take what's said here as an official plan or even a possibility. The fact remains that we haven't (yet) been awarded additional airframes, and both MSP and DTW are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Always remember, no one knows until it actually happens.

Ive heard those places mentioned too. Specifically SEA and PSC, I think the person who said it is in "the know". Eitherway sounds fun, any news on hiring yet? Pool is getting tired.

Compass now hiring MX supervisors in SFO/LAX...which means they expect a good deal of flying out of both of these airports for them to go out and spend money and hire actual Compass people rather than relying solely on contract mx.... and yes, I am in the know. Phase 1 of the west flying was always LAX-SFO shuttle and MCI-LAX turns... Phase 2 has yet to be loaded into the schedule as DL is still finalizing it. They are planning on beefing up their West Coast presence (its no secret) and will be announcing new service as well. Compass will play a part in flying those new routes, as well as adding capacity on current routes.

So if it's not a shift in flying then they will not exercise the CRJ 900 options and buy Ejets to be flown by Compass with deliveries late 2014 as one option. Another would be to bring airplanes from RAH to Compass or as 700-900 who's leases expire are exchanged for Ejets flown Compass.

So what you are saying is that Compass is going to grow or are you implying they are just shifting assets. Delta has the ability to add only 30 more 76 seaters and they are maxed out on 65-70 seaters.
