I currently work as a 73 FO for United and received a no thanks letter from Compass from an old app. Who knows.

My point was not whether the request was right or wrong, I don't think it was right to attack the person who asked the question initially. The person who posed the question in the first place was granted his wish, how am I wrong exactly? There is no reason people need to be a jerk, simply because they can.

If you're going to tell someone they're wrong, then use the correct you're.

They look at job progression...probably saw your current position and were cleaning their application folder. I don't think it had to do with your qualifications.

I do not want to get into a philosophical discussion about this, but "CFI's that excel" and "pilots that will succeed in 121 ops" are not always the same group of people. From experience, as a student pilot, training classmate, and in a former time at another job, union rep.

College GPA is actually a stronger predictor of 121 training success than previous experience (per the CP hiring dept.). There was only one CFI who had serious issues in CPZ training over the past few years, the vast majority excelled.

GPA was the very first thing they verified in my panel interview. It certainly seemed like they were interested in that.

Mine didn't show on my app so they called and said they couldn't offer me an interview until they reviewed it.

The problem with this thought process is that it assumes a GPA from a local podunk community college is the same as at a larger, tougher private college. A 3.2 at some places is worth more than a 3.9 at others. I wouldn't use GPA as a benchmark for someone passing 121 training.

Maybe they are just looking for the 3.0, I would think they would take into account if it was a high 2's for chemistry, physics, engineering or equivalent. There is probably some common sense into the equation.
