Hey guys got a call from compass to interview. Told them I wasn't interested at this time but I'm beginning to reconsider. Looking for some advice. I'm currently at Xjt (crj side) in DFW. Been there 1 yr 3 mo (1950 TT, 700 me). I commute out of GRK so DFW base is nice but I'm not so sure Xjts future is all too bright. At Compass I'm thinking there will be a lot of movement with flows and possible lax base which is enticing me to reconsider what I told them. I'm originally from SoCal and have been wanting to get back since left HS to join the Army. Friends and family are mostly all there but I live in tx cause it was cheap to live and I could afford flight training when I got out of the military. Other than I could care less where I'm currently living. I'm married but no kids. Wife is mostly supportive but is hesitant with cost of living in CA. Just looking for some thoughts to make an informed decision. I really don't know much about compass other than they are owned by TSH. How is the mgmnt /labor atmosphere there? Thanks

That's not true 100%, I know of someone who was able to get one after turning down an interview. Took alot of convincing though, don't think everyone could pull it off but worth a shot!

I came from Comair and it is night and day. At Comair there was just a pure hatred on each side of the fence toward the other. While i will say the attitude toward management (MW specifically) has taken a slight turn south since TSH took over, it is still better than I ever experienced at Comair. The majority of the pilots here are happy to be here and it really shows in the day to day line pilot life. Not that this is a career job by any stretch but there are plenty of worse places to be at right now. This is more of a refugee camp for furloughees and pilots from defunct airlines. Everyone is here to get there time and move on and with all of the movement, everyone is pretty happy. Ive been here almost 4 years and don't really have any complaints.
Hope this helps.

The fact is that the chief pilots have steadily improved since I came here over 6 yrs ago. We now have three of the best I've worked under, that helps morale a lot. So does the fact that pretty much everyone who works here has a lot of friends in far worse positions. People still biatch but it's mostly the people who enjoy biatching because...well...what else are you gonna do on a 4 hour cruise to YVR .
