Hey guys, probably a dumb question... but anyhow, what are you expected to wear through ground school? I figure a nice button up shirt or polo would be fine, but I have also heard that you are supposed to wear a suit the first day at other airlines.

Thanks in advance

Tuxedo

Seriously worry about learning not what to wear. It's very casual. Wear shirts with collars and pants that aren't ripped.

Haha. Thanks. Tuxedo it is. I was planning on just wearing a collared shirt but didn't want to be the only one not wearing a suit or something. Haha

I have been told that hiring will NOT STOP. I have been told 4 per month after FEB. Then I imagine sometime this fall they will have to start picking up the hiring (20 a month) for the next round of flows to Delta. Compass is also starting to lose more and more FO's leaving to other majors, and I imagine that will pick up too, being that more and more of them will not be flow eligible. Very good chance that 150-160 (or more) pilots will leave Compass in 2015 alone. Time will tell, but to answer your question, the hiring will continue indefinitely and most likely increase in the fall and early 2015.

Hiring won't stop - talks of it tapering off a bit until the flows are released but a slow down hasn't occurred yet and if one does it will be very temporary.

I think my day 1 we had 2/8 people wear ties. I was one of them. That was three years ago under different mgmt but i imagine its probably similar today. You could always go with the option by wearing a shirt that looks good with and without a tie and just adjust as necessary when you get there. Polos are the norm in the school house 90% of the time.

How big is a typical class? Also how does the training pay work and how long before getting that first pay check?

Only 2 out of my class of 6 in August were in suits, and I was one of them... HR contact apologized saying saying they forget to mention that business casual was perfectly fine... so I ditched the coat and tie and was business casual"ish"...
