Then 75 hr guarantee without per diem till Ioe. So plan on first 3 months not getting paid much. Oh yeah you're on yr own as far as lodging during training. But anyways even tho I was sent home packing without an actual interview I'm glad I came and gave it a shot without wondering what if. It just wasn't in the cards for me. Good luck to those interviewing or starting class soon. Seems like a good regional to go to right now.....so take that for what it's worth!

No, it makes sense. Back in the medieval ages before PBS, companies had 'lines' consisting of trips and off days, and pre-built 'reserve lines' consisting of reserve days and off days and crewmembers selected their schedule from those. 'Line' is just a synonym for 'schedule', but typically used to mean 'a schedule consisting of trips and off days'.

Anyone else feel free to correct, but that's how we looked at it at my last employer (non-PBS), too.
(added: The (old) contractual definition of 'lineholder' includes reserves with reserve lines)

The bases are as follows: MSP, DTW, and LAX. LAX is the most junior, with MSP being next and then DTW. According to the last vacancy bid. MSP and DTW are close though and with the amount of attrition that we're going to experience here in the next 12 mos., you should be able to bid where you want to be within six months or so.

Seniority is decided by birthdate within your class.

There is a possibility of another western base. Don't know where though.

In the most recent few vacancies all new hires have been assigned to LAX. However, I've seen many of them have a chance to bid out of LAX to MSP, not as easy to get DTW right now, within a month of two (not even out of training at that point). I imagine it will stay that way until the flows dry up this year.

Seniority in your new hire class is determined by age. I was second oldest so I was second most senior.

It's normal to stay in which ever base you want for the time being. Only in times of displacements would you get kicked out of your base. And I don't think there have been any displacements for a while. LAX is junior for FOs and Captains. Bet on LAX and/or MSP with the random DTW thrown in there. DTW is just so small there isn't a ton of movement and you''ll definitely be on reserve longer in DTW as a junior FO as opposed to LAX or MSP.

One question as a retiring military guy - what's the significance of a base being junior? How does that affect movement, upgrades, etc?

Everything happens much faster in the JR base. Holding a line, upgrade etc.

Does no one want the LAX base? I actually will prefer it, being from Colorado. I'm just not looking forward to commuting there for reserve, so hopefully that won't last long.

I'm looking forward to getting on the line.
