Health benefits

Hi,

For those at Compass, does the company offer some sort of "buy out" for not taking their health insurance coverage? IE...utilizing the wife's medical insurance?

Thanks

I would really doubt it. Anything that could be considered an additional cost is ruthlessly denied here. I would always try but don't get upset when you fail to get a response of any kind.

I still consider 2000 hours low time. I thought they were hiring pilots with years of airline experience, not months.

Perhaps his point is that in the last round of hiring Delta interviewed and employed some very experienced pilots.

If/when flow ups occur Delta has absolutely no control over the quality of the pilots flowing.

It is an interesting dilemma. Delta has gone to great lengths for many years to tightly control who they hire. With the 'flow ups' they are completely abdicating that control.

This is not meant to criticize either DAL or Compass hiring practices. Merely commenting on quality control.

Clearly you have done very little research. Everyone at Compass was hired by a panel of Northwest pilots the same style interviews as conducted at Northwest. So just like Delta took several thousand pilots in the merger from Northwest, the Compass pilots are no different from Northwest hiring standards.

Funny stuff.

I wonder what would happen if you told that story to a DAL interview board...?

Your logic has a few holes in it. However i'm sure you will argue about it till your blue in the face. If you were qualified or capable of getting hired at DAL or NW then you would be there. You are not. End of story.

I stated that I was not criticizing the quality of either airline. i'm not. You seemed to take it as an attack on your credibility. It is now :D

Before the merger NWA knew that those hired at Compass would go strait to NWA without any additional control over who flows there other than the interview process at Compass. That interview for Compass was the quality control that NWA set up for those at Compass who would flow strait to NWA.

Delta had no control over the quality of the pilots that came with the merger of NWA. I don't see how taking the Compass pilots is any different than taking the NWA pilots. If Delta could trust NWA's judgment with the hiring of NWA pilots, they could trust NWA with the hiring practices of the Compass pilots.

From my view I think this is a insignificant issue to both Delta management and DALPA. If they didn't want Compass pilots coming strait there they certainly could have been able to negotiate something during the integration of the pilots to change it, but instead nothing changed.
