I'm only the messenger in this case; only sharing the information I was told directly from HR. I have no information on total numbers, just a class every other week through June (skipping a few weeks in April or May, I think). And from what I understand, the web site will not accept an application till 02/15. (this is just before the Women in Aviation Conference which they are attending)

Now, for the rumors:
Apparently there are 300 Delta north (NWA) pilots slated for retirement in 2010. Compass now has eligible pilots for the flow. So, 300 retirements, higher utilization, CP Ca's to flow, Delta "loves" the product, I would imagine more than 60. If I hear something, I'll pass it along.

I wonder.... How many current Compass pilots with their Turbine PIC time and heavy jet experience will be sticking around here in the near future... It seems with places like Airtran annoucning hiring, Evergreen, Emirates, DAL planning on potential hiring, Jetblue (who knows rumors have been out there); that many will leave at their first chance. Sounds like things could get interesting there real quick as far as staffing if things indeed continue to look positive as they do now.....

Uh, yeah, Compass will be in a world of hurt as soon as some airlines start hiring again. Everyone on the line knows this, but our management team has its head buried in the sand, hoping that it can entice enough people to stay...

Unless somthing breaks loose fast at Delta, the FO rates are so low at compass that I don't think keeping the large portion of furloughed folks from leaving to go to other airlines on the roster will be possible. I don't know many people at the airline yet but from what I've seen so far there is a lot of people that still hold seniority at other airlines that could still go back if calls start going out this year. That I guess would be good for everyone on the compass list. Faster upgrades for the young guys that want to stay. Flows for the 30m+ guys. New Jobs or recalls and better pay for the rest.

It is not accepting applications, because the next window opens on FEBRUARY 15th.... It's only January!

Similar question to Spoilers. I had an application filled out for a year with an internal rec. and never heard a peep. Finally got a rejection letter a week ago saying they are pursuing others. Never said that I could re-apply in X months or that they'll keep my app on file for additional openings, etc. What's going on? I guess I can have my buddy send in a third internal rec.

Eh, just apply again. Their HR department is very unorganized they might call this time around.

I could see 70% of the list quitting within about six months once things start moving again. Why would you hang around this place any more than you have to!?

UltraFlyer1982 01-16-2010 12:14 PM

If you are furloughed, do they make you resign your old seniority number at your former employer?

meyers9163 01-16-2010 02:02 PM

If there are any Compass pilots whom would not mind answering a few questions could you drop me a PM or let me know? I am currently an FO over at PSA and needless to say been sitting 2nd from the bottom in base for sometime now and am considering a lateral move if ever offered a chance. I just would like to get some input from some whom might have done this as well and or anyone currently there. Thanks in advance!

I was not asked to resign my number. But then again, Midwest isn't really an option to go back to.

bubi352 01-18-2010 05:24 PM

I am going to ask this question again. Has any of the pilots hired (other than 4andCounting Midwest pilot above) been asked to resign their seniority number at their previous airline?
