I rode Flight Deck jump seat today from IAH to MSP. Everything makes a little more sense now having just completed 4 weeks of CBT's and one week of Compass ground school. My trip just happened to work out this way, but I would highly encourage any new hire to find an out and back and jump on it. Nothing beats actually seeing in action what you're reading about and trying to make sense of.

For everyone thinking about applying to Compass... This is a great company! Check your problems and your anger from your past 121 regional carriers at the door when and if you come here. I guarantee if you don't management will catch wind and they will squash it quick. Don't be that guy.. And don't ruin it for the rest of us

Can you explain this a little better?

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that he means to wash your mind clean from your past bad experiences at previous 121 employers and start new. The instructors in the schoolhouse have no time or patience for that stuff. They will be the first to tell you to shut up and move on. It's pretty annoying to hear new guys who are jaded complain over and over again how terrible their old airline was and how things were over there. A positive attitude will get you a long way here.

Where are people staying for the orientation? Called hotels around the area needing a place that had a shuttle to that training center. Lowest rate I could get was $135..for one night! Ouch! Makes me afraid of how much the housing costs for training are going to set me back. Are people just taking a cab to the airport after the orientation day?

I would guess there's a high probability that there will be locals in your class. Hopefully they are cool and offer a ride.

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn they had us setup in for the interview. Its setting me back $89 for the night.

An option if you have a car would be to get on craigslist and rent a room from someone. Even if its a long drive it will go a long way when you need to get food or have to be at the training center in the middle of the night. Would most likely be a little nicer then splitting a room at a hotel.

Here's a question for someone at compass that knows the information.

Have all eligible flows for this year left or are there still some waiting for a class date?

Also, is there at least 150 guys at compass that will be eligible for the 2015 flow, or is it a less number on compass property now that met the requirements when the agreement was signed?

Thanks!
