Some of the LOAs that have been signed recently are questionable at best. Oh well, at least those that signed them are off to bigger and better things...

Can you elaborate?

So are you guys canceling flights because of lack of crews? I actually flew an empty CRJ900 from Slc to lax yesterday so I could do some Compass flying from lax to pdx and back with passengers and then flew the empty airplane back to Slc. I was told it was a compass flight and we covered the flying. I can't imagine how much delta had to pay for us to cover that flight and what that does to compass. Any idea why we covered the flying?

I heard there was a 900 doing LA-SF as well.

No. We aren't. I think there were a few mechanicals yesterday.

There were something like 4 planes down for maintenance out west a couple days ago. Definitely not crew related and that stuff happens all the time, we've covered for Skywest too.

Not a trampling of the cba. Specifically addressed in the cba and now all open time for FO's in November will be for premium pay

Why not 150% pay for anything over 75 hours? The company should be severely penalized for raising the floor above 75 hours. Hire more pilots. This was a massive union FAIL. Just like the 4:45 average daily credit pay BS. 19 hour 4 day when it should be worth 23 hours with a 30 hour overnight thrown in there. SO glad the union leadership is gone and replaced with new blood. Maybe the new guys will know how to negotiate or not put up with the company trying to screw over the pilots. Then when it's time to sell the crappy LOA to the pilots they won't have to pretend all is well. Our previous guys were professionals at putting lipstick on a smelly pig.

This ^^^ and Delta has our tiny little fleet stretched way too thin. We are spread all over the US and I bet it's a logicistial nightmare for the SOC to figure out how to cover a LAX-SFO flight when our only fleet spare is out in CLT. It doesn't seem efficient but I don't get the bigger picture. Our performance has been kinda crappy since we grew on the west coast. Seems like we need to concentrate our flying west of the Mississippi and forget the east coast.
Crew availability is not an issue. It might become an issue as we start getting AA planes and the company doesn't ramp up the hiring soon. I can't believe how slow they've been to ramp up this hiring. Makes me nervous.

So what in your opinion is the hiring status? Have you actually talked to anyone in recruiting? They are pilots too and can answer many questions. I have asked many times when recommending friends. And why do you not allow PMs?
