You heard right. A select few people are using them on the line right now during a trial and testing phase. Supposedly the whole pilot group gets them December or early next year. I don't think they're very popular among the test pilots.

I imagine because Lido is a terrible product compared to Jepps. If NAS plates were available it would be a step up.

Lido charts are absolutely horrible. Horrible enough to dampen the excitement of ridding myself of my flight bag and revisions. Still happy to be done with revisions though, just not looking forward to all the ASAP reports.

Who knows if it's true but I heard Lufthansa gave us a big discount on the charts for switching to their bidding system. Jepps were $1.3 mill vs LIDO of 300k

Lufthansa will be cheaper for a while, but the rates will go up each year and will eventually be more expensive than jepps. So here to looking forward to Jepps in about 5 years.

I think LIDOs will be fine. I used them at Pinnacle and once you get used to them they're not bad. You train your eyes to go where they need to go. They're not quite as intuitive as Jepps. The worst part about them in the paper form was that they took up three 2" binders and a 1" binder. And yes, the best part will be the instant update with no flight case!
