I'm pretty sure this is correct. A friend of mine who is a recent new hire was awarded LAX out of training. Upon completion of his LOE, they gave him a couple days off and then immediately scheduled his IOE out of MSP. BUT the trips were scheduled with a deadhead to and from MSP to LAX. So he was considered LAX based after his LOE was finished.

CBA Section 5.3.a

"All new hire pilots will be assigned to a pilot domicile (one in which line pilots are also domiciled) for the duration of ground school and simulator training. "

So from my experience you are MSP based as a new hire till LOE. Then you are based where you were awarded for IOE. But MSP was the only location for sims when I was hired so...

Don't expect to know anything for sure until the middle of your first week back in MSP. We're bouncing between MSP and STL for sims. I got an LAX domicile while still in Week 1, but you are still considered based in MSP through training.

I was told by the scheduling people that they will begin running multiple alignment bids each month, so base transfers will happen fairly quick I'd imagine.

I'm a cqfo starting dec 18. I'm wondering two things. Can anyone tell me how certain the American contract is? And for what duration it's good for?
Also, does anyone want to take a guess what my first year might look like? Eg: upgrade time? A friend of mine in training says their guessing 12 month upgrades right now. My math suggests less than that. Thanks!

CQFO? Huh? Certain? Well they're coming plus more potentially. Don't remember length, 6 years? Yes you absolutely should be able to upgrade in that time.

no problem, we were thinking you were saying CP hired you as a captain qualified FO. Congrats on the class date. If you start on December 18th, you will probably upgrade sometime around December of next year, maybe earlier. There are at least 40 or 50 pilots at this company right now, who will not have 1000 SIC by late fall of next year. Good luck to you.

I agree, it was confusing. Had to see if I accidently clicked the TSA thread. I hear it's almost double that. Good for everyone getting on. If you don't have the time better start flying!

Chief pilot estimated 30 when I asked. Who knows for sure really?
