Unless there is a rule that Military time counts towards the 1000 needed to upgrade, I think you will still need to get 1000 121 SIC to upgrade. The only thing I am aware of military time helping with is getting your restricted ATP at 750 hours.

yeah it's only a FAR.....no big deal......probably just a rumor, right?

Hence my statement, "unless there is a rule", which there is, so good for military pilots.

There is, in fact, a Federal Aviation Regulation regarding this.
FAR 121.436
(c) For the purpose of satisfying the flight hour requirement in paragraph (a)(3) of this section, a pilot may credit 500 hours of military flight time obtained as pilot in command of a multiengine turbine-powered, fixed-wing airplane in an operation requiring more than one pilot.

Our FOM is controlling in terms of upgrade requirements (FOM 16-13, F). It calls for 2,500TT and 1,000 121 SIC, 135.243 PIC, or 91.1053 PIC. Doesn't say anything about converting Mil time

Nice catch- R14 of the FOM moved the ball on this one. I'll let tunes weigh in since he's exchanged emails with management on this subject.

Chief pilots and training department have confirmed that meeting the FAR requirements for the 121 SIC are accepted by the company. So mil guys get 500 credit of 121 sic if they have 500+ multi crew pic

Last question on MIL time upgrade questions. Anyone know if compass counts military RW time toward totals for upgrade? I'm military with ~1700 FW MEJ and ~ 1300 MIL RW time....500 121 SIC time would put me at 3500 TT with ~ 2200 FW. With my 500 multi crew MIL FW MEJ PIC time I would have the 1000 121time but I would only have 2200 FW TT...(3500 TT RW+FW) Thanks.
