Recently, going into LAX, we were given holding instructions to hold at CADEZ as published. There was no hold published on the Lidos as compared to he Jepps. Be careful.

 

Yeah LIDO products are an absolute liability. They do actually OMIT altitude restrictions. To make a product for use by commercial pilots, that which presents wrong information, and/or omits other important restrictions, relying on pilots themselves to compare every single STAR, DP, IAP to chart notams, is not conducive to safety. Sure you could say that it is every pilots responsibility to compare their charts with all their chart notams, but we are humans, and we will make mistakes and miss stuff. Why use a product such as LIDO that only serves to further expose human error? We are using a product that increases the likelihood of pilot deviations. It is a choice our leaders have made. In order to put that in terms of CRM and that damn swiss cheese model of Threat & Error Management that they teach to us....we just CHOSE to add a bunch more holes to the damn cheese. Yay.

The fact that these are electronic charts and that they are so unwilling to update the charts correctly, in a timely manner, is pathetic. LIDO is known for their absolute unwillingness to work with their customers, or lack thereof. Fedex and pinnacle got rid of them for a reason. Sometimes you just cannot sacrifice safety in order to save a buck.

At least we don't have to do revisions. That is nice. I only wish we went with electronic jepps.

 

I know a few pilots who have used lidos and can't stand them.

 

Are they paying new hires during training? I keep on hearing different things. Some say no pay during training, some say it is very little, some say min guarantee throughout training. I talked to two new hires that had no clue. Also have they started paying for hotels yet?

 

You get 75 hours/month once you come back from home study, so the company is losing out by having everyone sitting around.

Hotels will come after pilots stop coming here because of it. There are simple ways to get around that cost, that you shouldn't make your decision based on a $300-$400/month or less cost, when you are getting paid minimum guarantee from the start. Plus you get hotels in STL and DFW.

It is down to 14 days now.

 

Is the reason for 14 days instead of 30 due to less material to cover? Or do they feel that 14 days is really all that was needed?

I think it was taken down to 14 days with the new contract. No less material that I know of. It is doable in 14 days but requires a lot of work compared to having another 16 days to take it easy. Instead of having a lot of time to learn limitations, flows, and callouts you will have to buckle down and not waste time.

 

Plan on working hard during the 14 days of CBT. It is just barely enough time to get everything done. Don't wait to start, but get right on it after Orientation.

Also your DOH is your anniversary for pay increases. FYI

Just wondering if the iPad's/Lidos will really get implemented. I know they have been distributed, but they aren't approved for sole use yet. There was some hesitation from management that they were 100% sure they would be implemented.
