Compass already had hired a good amount of furloughed TSA pilots. I don't know if there is anything official, but there sure are a lot of them there. As for the hiring, that has to do with things that happened well before Compass involuntarily became a part of the TSA debacle. Please don't throw them in the same comparison as GoJet.

With any interview system I'm sure the process will change over time, but the basic format is likely to stay the same as they spent a lot of time and effort overhauling it to what it is now.

Default interview

The technical part of the test is pretty tough, but it is stuff that you can study for and pass. (I did) I much prefer the "Delta" was of hiring. 3 quick tests, you know right away if you passed, then an interview. Done. As long as there is no sim, I think it is better. The sim is a inaccurate way to test applicants in my opinion.

So seeing if they're book smart is better than seeing if they can actually do the job they are applying for?

Typically what you end up with is "he who has the best gouge wins". So you dont really need to be book smart. My favorite is the psyche questionaire...i like reading poetry, i like crowded beaches....***.

Virtually every pilot at Compass came from another airline where they had to fly airplanes. Fifteen minutes in a B727 sim, while fun, doesn't indicate one's ability to perform the job well. "Flying" is a necessary part of the job, but hardly the most important once a minimum competency level is reached.

How come RAH didn't buy Compass? That would seem like a logical buy for Bedford.

My guess is they were never up for sale to BB. Why subsidize your own competition, I think this will be a reoccurring theme in the next few years.
