Quote: A lot of pilots ARE overly dramatic and argue with CS and waste their time with all this small stuff, honestly.
You are right, it's a sign of the times and environment that has evolved from the IOCC implementation...there is a ton of frustration out there both on the line and in the SOC. Some of this is due to the limitations of IOCC, but most of it is due to the staffing issues the company has. When we are short, we all pay the price...it makes the schedulers job alot harder, but just remember at the end of the day everyone in the SOC's job is to move airplanes, it isn't personal. We as pilots need to understand that, but most importantly need to know when to say no. We do this by knowing the contract, it's something i try to do when i have a long flight somewhere is pull out a manual and read a little more in depth about something...knowledge is power.

With all that being said just remember you are an educated, qualified, PROFESSIONAL aviator whose operating a multi-million dollar piece of equipment. Everything you say is being recorded on the phone line to the SOC. Do not let something you say be used against you in a Section 19. Just remember a Section 19 disciplinary action can be reported on your PRIA (49 U.S.C. § 44703(h)(1)(B)(ii)(II))

Does that mean when scheduling calls me, I shouldn't answer the phone in a British accent "ello govena" ??
I always say "thank you for calling Pizza Hut would you like to try our garlic stuffed crust pizza?"
Quote: Yeah I'm not even putting my burrito down for a PA.
As you shouldn't. Burrito abuse is a real issue these days and it needs to be brought to the spotlight. As for CS there's always a high turnover and it's likely been exacerbated by the IOCC rollout. Hard to find people wanting to do 3x the work than was required on Sabre/Flica for $12.50 an hour.
There’s more to the story but I’m not going to post it here or point any fingers. I just feel bad for the pax that got dragged along.
Has anyone ever had a junior assignment or extension just show up on your schedule without a proper notification?

Had that happen to me and I didn't notice till after my original pairing was over. I called after I was off duty and SOC admitted they had no clue why that happened. Was wondering if this was an one-off thing or other people are experiencing it.

sure. I've seen my duty plan show all sorts of stuff on work days and days off.

If I'm on a trip I don't self notify for ANYTHING...and if they don't make positive contact it doesn't exist.
Aren’t we due for a company call?

It's on the 8th at 11am CST
I for one do not feel bad for the passengers, we have very limited tools at hand being contract employees. I am hard working, but I do what I can, until I can’t do any more.

It’s not my fault mainline outsourced their product to the lowest bidders and will suffer service failures and tarnished brands as a result.

Remember who they bought their tickets from, and who orchestrated this environment.

Maybe a PA call works for OO, but I’m glad that doesn’t fly here.
