If it went to the cheapest pilot group, GLA would have gotten jets and still been alive today.

Flying would also exclusively go to Mesa now.

There's more to the decision than just price.

It's like when you go to the grocery store... do you always buy the cheapest item, or are there certain things you'll buy generic, but others that you're willing to pay for the brand name? Sometimes that extra cost is worth what you get in a product.

Very true, now that I'm a real CA, I can buy avocados and occasionally the freshly-sliced deli meat: two long term financial goals of mine.

It seems alright, in some ways a little better, but definitely obnoxious trying to get it off and on in landscope mode (gotta turn it portrait to remove it).

I've heard 5% of the pilots cause 95% of the problems though and honestly I believe it, from what I hear on the line. Unfortunately the chief pilots treat all of us like that 5%, lowest-common-denominator style and when you're actually a professional, it's very frustrating to be treated like a child.
Rather than discipline or deal with the problem pilots, instead they treat us all like idiots.

Flying pretty much has gone to Mesa recently. Not exclusively but... they took the United flying from us on cost at the last minute... Soo....

Hi, Im new here. Im currently instructing to build time and get my 1500 done. Im just past 1000 and counting at a fast rate. A friend of mine that just got offered a job with compass told me he heard a rumor that Skywest has told current trainees that Skywest is going to be getting Compass's E175? Any ounce of truth to this? The other rumor is that republic or envoy will expand west and takeover the E175's. I know its all just rumors but have any of you heard any sort of talk about either of those?

It's been talked about to an exhausting level. Every regional has lifers, some more than others, and those lifers jump on any rumor that will allow them to continue a fantasy of retiring at a regional in 2025. The truth is no one knows anything about the future and I'd say that even goes up to regional management. Mainline does what they want to support their bottom line even if that means puting regional pilots on the street. Of course this is not something they want us to know so we don't affect their performance due to low morale. So the fact of the matter any information that is not photocopied from a memo seen on a chief pilots desk has no truth until it is announced to the few news articles that care. It'll be hard to find a pilot now a days that hasn't either left one regional for another or a mainline guy that has been effected by some kind of furlough or slow down. Use your best judgment using all that fancy CRM the FAA taught you to make a sound, educated judgment to get you either home base, PIC time, seniority, and job security. If we can offer you that, I don't know. We're a privately owned company that does not have any obligation to release financial status or plans. Every regional is fighting for staffing so rumors are just that, rumors.

Our CPAs will be renewed not because we are cheap, but because we have hats. Passengers and mainlines like hats because it gives them that true PE (pilot experience - much like the GFE - girl friend experience..you sometimes find on Craigslist)
