I'm contemplating returning to 121 flying (regionals) however living in Phoenix I'm not relishing the commute, Compass piqued my interest with their base in LAX, simple commute from PHX.

So would anyone recommend Compass as a viable option, or is ?

Thx
I've heard there's over 50 compass pilots that do Phx-lax, if you throw in the other carriers there's probably 300-400 people if not more. Good luck!

No kidding. There are two things at work here. 1, Evacuating is NOT safe. 2. Ramps are NOT safe. Having people risk breaking bones to get down to a surface where they might get run over is not something to do lightly. At the end of the day I am the one responsible for the safety of my passengers. If I blow the slides and an eight year old brakes her arm and Granny gets run over by a catering truck, who is The Man going to come after? Hint, it won't be MW.

I'm not inclined to risk my certificate or personal liability to save the company money because they can't negotiate with an ops agent.

If you pop the slide, is it truly an "opportunity to deplane" if you don't let the pax jump out? Or did they just tack the cost of a new slide(s) onto their $2MM fine.

That's my question as well. In addition, how do you go about getting all their personal stuff back to the passengers? Seems like a big cluster chuck to me. Maybe it should be mandatory that all non-emergency diversionary airports have portable stairs for de planing

IMHO, I would wait. Despite what the company may think, we are not fat on pilots.
I am on reserve in LAX and I have over 60 hrs of credit this month already with 5 more days left. Plus lately they have been offering up critical pay trips for crews in LAX, that means they Have no reserves to cover the trip, which means they are short on pilots. The last 2 months almost all FOs were flying over 35 hrs/month.
If this is your first 121 airline, just get online and get some flying under your belt. There is still a lot to learn that they don't teach you in training.
