Same way we do it now, send a message until they figure out a way to do it in the new system.

ACARS instruction to do it came directly from Dispatch and saying they have one minute to comply.

When making a decision. You first do what saves lives. Then what won't ding your license. Lastly a decision you can live with.

Exactly. Stay on board. 0 reason to evacuate besides saving them $$ due to terrible planning.

If thats the case then I say all 3 of those are bad decisions.
-What lives were at risk?
-You going to get investigated for this decision
-This decision I can guarantee will bug the crew for a long time

After determining that all 3 of those will come to a bad decision, then I would deff not comply!

My schedule is loaded for what it's worth.

Also, I'm not popping a slide for DOT 3hr. Nope and nope.

Phx commute is getting worse btw

I look forward to a possible FAA investigation of the incident, as this now sets a terrible precedent that Airlines can simply can blow slides to dodge a 3 hour DOT. I would say, "I dont want to deplane let me know when the airstairs get here." My guess Compass still gets the fine and pays for new slides.

They didn't evacuate. They "offered egress". No one got off via slide as far as I'm aware.

How did the pax ultimately get off? I'm really hoping for some communication regarding this matter. Possibly a lot of false or missing information.

So you're saying you would do this?

Dispatch has the authority to declare an emergency. The ACARS they sent implied that dispatch had declared the emergency. As the pilot, would you use your emergency authority to over ride their emergency authority and not comply with the ACARS?

Edit: also apparently I was wrong and previous post. Several news sources say the airplane was indeed evacuated.
