Maybe they tried to import the list of 1200 pilots from the DAL job fair and the computers exploded

I have two IT guys I am friends with explain what a datastorm is, curious to see what they come up with. This is interesting to say the least.

A VOIP capable phone like the one used in our all employee phone calls? No way on God's Green Earth can it cause that much havoc. Period. And to cause a scramble or a complete meltdown or switch havoc? I find that incredibly hard to believe. Either that or we have a really lousy IT guy working for us.

I did get a laugh out of JS s email today with the Airplane picture. Perhaps this is a change of pace from the lack of humor/color from the daily operational updates?

Anyone see a vacancy announcement for IT Quality Assurance yet?

It's entirely plausible that a VOIP phone could cause a switching loop that would overwhelm the switches and bring the network to a standstill..but without knowing the network topography it's hard to tell where the failure was.

Are we really desperate for drama that we are trying to make everything a vast company conspiracy /lie?

Some computers crashed and SOC was hard to get in touch with for a while. I don't really care why. Phones are back up? Great... Moving on.

Check your paystubs.

New Pay rates took effect for FOs.

Year 2 FO pay: 41.82 an hour.

As I said, either that or our IT department needs some overhauling. Performance matters, especially with how much is computer based these days. Just an observation.
