Remember the report time is the time you need to be at the plane, not the parking lot. The bus from the employee lot can be 10 minutes if you catch it perfectly or 1/2hr. Then if it is an Eagle flight you have to take the bus to the Eagles Nest. again, anywhere from 10 minutes to 1/2hr.
With 1 1/2 drive from SAN area (with no traffic) you would only make it if everything went right.
Trust me, every time you are running a little late, you hit traffic or the bus does not come or there is grid lot in the LAX loop and the bus takes forever to get to the terminal.
Still think you can do it, try a test run and see how long it takes you to get to the crew room at the Eagles Nest.
Also prepare your speech to the CP when he calls about your Missed flight assignment and you say , we I thought I could drive from SAN.

They're not doing anything illegal in the eyes of the FAA, which is why you have to go to MSP and get your right seat qualification. Them not honoring our CBA is not the FAA's business - it's our union leader's responsibility.
What is concerning to me is that the company continues to violate the contract, over and over again and nobody is being held accountable. What is being done to stop them from doing it further? What's the point of having a CBA otherwise? The list of grievances on file just keep piling up, yet I haven't seen anything done about it. I can sympathize with the tremendous and complex politics our union leaders have to deal with on a daily basis, but, I keep seeing hundreds of dollars being taken out of my paycheck in union fees every month and I don't see anything being done or rectified where it matters. I will always stand by our union leaders but I hope something gets done quick or else it's all smoke and mirrors.

Just re-read the MOU regarding the last bonus. ZERO language to prevent this new one. Just articulation of how the prior one was to cease and how FO wages will be handled.
And, as far as utilizing a CA in the right seat, no prohibition from doing so. Just contractual language about protecting CA pay if flying as an FO.
However you feel about it, these are the facts.

Anyone else get an email losing their vacation for the rest of the year? I guess no one volunteered and in return they pulled mine!

From: MEC Chairman, Snack Basket Committee
Anyone catch the last ALPA email? The MEC says having right-seat captains goes against the CBA and they are grieving this too. What a tough spot for anybody in upgrade right now.

It could be a possible scenario.... Pilots will be paid for a higher paying Position at the new rate upon successful completion of his LOE or the effective date of the Award, whichever is earlier.

There is a negligible pay rate difference between year 2 and year 3 CA pay. It is much better business wise to have a captain spend more than a year on property. The upgrade training cost itself is more than the difference in income a CA will make by having a small increase in pay rate each year
And no I don't need to have someone explain why FOs shouldn't get paid CA rates. I was simply pointing out the lack of critical pay on the FO side.
Also we are nowhere close to having our company be shut down due to lack of staffing. When was the last time a compass flight was cancelled because they couldn't find a pilot?
Don't fall for the management scare tactics. We are no where close to going under because of lack of flight crew. If the time comes where every FO is flying 95 hours and flights are being cancelled due to no FOs then I will support right seat CA flying.
I want this company to succeed as much as everyone else.
